I am farming the card done by everyone's favourite fairy artist for Kaguya because one of her spells is that bullet type and the card gives your entire team +2 yang attack so Kaguya can at least have some more useful buffs.

If you put a debuffing story card on an all-targetting spellcard, does the debuff hit all enemies or just the one highlighted when you select the spellcard?

Depends on the card.

When it uses the singular noun "target" it means the enemy you have highlighted. If it's debuffing the entire enemy it'll say so:

Unless the story card specifically says all enemies, it will always only effect the character you have highlighted with your AoE spell. It's why this random 4 star bunnybun card is often called one of the strongest in the game. It actually reduces all enemies yang defense by 2 stages at full power. Only debuffers can activate the effect at all but it is one of the best effects in the game. There is only a single card in the game that does the same for Yin defense and that is the card that was dropped in the super strong Marisa battle the jap version had for Blue Reimu's release. That card effect can only be activated by attack type characters.

I hope the jap version adds the next real story chapter on the 31st and that the new Lunatic story card is the one that boosts laser damage. It's kinda silly that there are so many characters with laser bullets but no laser card yet. Also, looking through all the characters in the game right now, the rarest attack type in the entire game seems to be missile, being even rarer than amulet or fluid and yet missile has the same max possible damage boost of 35% as laser with the current story cards.

At least Laser and Missile have a grindable story card. Sharp doesn't even have that, and its best (JP exclusive) story card only goes up to 40% with no other (useful) buffs. And Laser has ones like Unmoving Great Library or Ordinary Magician which have other cool effects and have been in the game forever.

That's gamebreaking in this game as it can make it very easy to have constant uptime on 10 stacks of buffs.
Some characters already have that, but they need good partners or storycards to keep the train going.
You could try having that tied to an ability with a long cooldown itself, but then it's a cool gimmick that you only get to use once per stage.

I think the game's bugged, I didn't get a single card in 200 runs...

There's a lot of potential for having characters that break the rules of the game in their own unique ways.

Patchouli with 7 unique mono-element spell cards instead of two pairs of mono-element spell cards and a rainbow puke last word. (she's the One-Week Girl)
Sakuya being able to get an extra turn for herself (Sakuya's World)
Yuyuko automatically triggering her last word upon fainting (Resurrection Butterfly)
Mokou self-reviving after some number of turns being fainted (i.e. her Hourai immortality)
Satori getting a spell card that copies her opponent's spell cards (Recollection spellcards)

Seiga could revive a fainted friend as her last word (Yoshika)

Some LW are weirdly disappointing considering their power, animation or the characters behind them. Blue Reimu has the strongest LW in the game and it looks super basic, Okuu looks super underwhelming, Toyohime is over in an instant, same with regular Flandre, Retro Aya is just super weird and probably some random tengu folklore no one knows, Tewi's LW looks like a regular spell, regular Yukari spends more time posing than actually shooting bullets. There are also some that are just long, like Yachie.

That makes no sense though. PoFV Aya has the longest last word animation in the game. Yacchie's is also pretty long. Both came out way after Toyohime who is the gold standard for fast LW animations. And looking at B3 Reisen, hers is also rather long, although I haven't seen it with the shortened animations on.

The devs never did anything about LW length because people complained. Cake has one of the longest lasting LW in the entire game and Cake was released shortly before Loli Junko.

EX stages and cheap farm comps are bound to certain characters. Bane Sagume is needed for many cheap EX Star farming comps, or Otohime is great for tower latergame since she can remove locks on your abilities and stuff.
Also Phantasm Arena difficulty needs the strongest of the strong units.

You can braindead grind event or normal stages, sure, and tower is still braindead afk LW spamming, but thats only half the game, i guess.

Bane is a great support, but she's not mandatory. The reason that she's good for Star EX is for a very specific reason: she has a 0P all-targeting star break that ALSO is of a bullet type that one of the tengu resists while the other doesn't (Ofuda). An attack like this is necessary to stagger their gauge breaks so you can spend the rest of the match spamming last words. And the star break allows you to full break Marisa turn 1 if your other two friends can only put out 6 breaks.

Funnily enough 5SP Star Sapphire also fits the bill here, so you can use her instead. May take an extra turn because she offers no P support.

For the record, these are the bullet types that hit one tengu and not the other turn 1: Ofuda, Body, Sharp, Laser. So to stagger their breaks you just need an all-targeting spell of one of these types. After gauge break this is reduced to just Ofuda and Laser.

It took me 350 rolls to get a single copy of Reimu Blue. It's gacha in its purest form. Super low odds, no safety net. You can have 9000 pink cubes and get nothing. Maximum gamboru. Please make sure you are absolutely aware of what you are doing if you decide to roll in a banner like that. Whales don't care but if you are F2P you can waste a year worth of resources on potentially nothing.

She's obviously very good but probably not "gambling your entire cube stock" good. JP made the banner tolerable by putting an exceptional story card on it (https://gamepress.gg/lostword/story-card/myouren-temple-anniversary)), but without that it's probably a pass. I'm curious how global will handle this. They've already used that story card elsewhere so they can't copy JP exactly.

Problem with that is if your nukers are Mecha Marisa & Flan, then you can't use Marisa's LW as it won't get resisted by either tengu.
And for the 2nd round of breaks you can't use her star cards because there's nobody to resist ofuda anymore so you need to take 2 turns to get to 7 breaks
The def buffs allow you to survive the turn guaranteed so it's not all bad, but I had to fully awaken her just to have enough P to keep fueling everyone else
And the 4breaks on her AoE card at 2P is also a nice bonus of her being 5*
Anyway rambling over, there isn't enough time for me to farm up to at least 1 card.

First of all, I'm a f2p player and I only play on global. I already have a decent amount of very good units, SFes included, so I can farm all EX stages, clear tower easily, etc.

If you choose to save for her, you are likely sitting on Kaguya Sentai, surely a few SFES rerun or a new one (Sakuya Castlevania?) and I maybe about one month(?) of others 2hus.
We don't really know when she will drop. Personnally I wouldn't save for her because I'm still waiting for other girls (Kogasa, Cake, Retro Moriya) and I'm not a big fan of what we have seen of her in the story so far

Blue Reimu is designed to basically be the best attacker in the game so I hope the next character has some sort of special thing to do that you don't see all the time. Their damage numbers are based entirely on non-setup solo performance, so destruction characters typically suffer. Sakuya is no exception because her yang attack buffing ability is, well, bad. She only gets up to +2 in this instance. Agility buffing is also low. Note that she's being compared to Otohime who gets +10 yang attack. I feel like mobile devs add PvP content because they think it'll be easy. Just pop in a mode and the players proceed to entertain themselves. In reality though there are side effects. For instance, it making the entire game much harder to balance. With PvE balance doesn't matter much, but in a PvP focused game bad balance and excessive powercreep can literally destroy the player experience (see: FEH). And as you stated these modes are usually P2W and if the rewards for winning are too significant you risk disgruntling the majority of the playerbase. Overall not worth the trade imo. I'd prefer they devote resources towards other things than gacha esports

I think they hate destruction type characters in general simply because they might need set-up. Someone like EoSD Patchouli is super useful for any difficult content but since she has destruction type accuracy she is instantly ranked way lower. Jap blog has ranked her really high in comparison.

The cheapest team I can use to farm the new card for Sakuya involves Sakuya herself. She is not even done levelling up and at green heart. A very busy girl.

The new Sakuya card feels kinda poorly thought out. Sakuya already reaches the max crit damage increase that a character can have and the general damage increase she gets from the card is only 45%. She can support other characters with the crit def debuff it has but it only lasts for 1 turn. The card that the Marisa battle event handed out was generally the best card for Blue Reimu even in terms of just base damage multipliers. Right now Sakuya herself does more damage by just using a Black Youmu card.

Crit damage is capped at +10, or 5x damage. So +10 crit atk == -10 crit def == -5 crit def and +5 crit atk.

iirc yin/yang stats are different in that you can go beyond +10 by combining debuffs and buffs. So -10 yin defense and +10 yin attack would both stack with each other.

Related to this I read recently that you can actually go beyond the full break debuff by combining buffs, debuffs, and poison/burn anomalies, but I'm not sure how much of each you need to do this.

Critical hits are twice the base damage but the damage increase hard caps at 5x base damage for the crit related buffs. The 2 is the base damage increase and the 0.3 * X is crit damage buff levels while the -(-0.3 *X) is crit def buffs (or debuffs in this case since it is negative levels of buffs).

"My girl's the cutest" is forgettable. Not really worth when you have cards giving +3 yang attack.
Red Marisa "The Witch of Scarlet Dreams" is essential and universal. The more you have the better
"Mysterious Sword Master" is BiS for slash-type spellcards and last words
"The Secret God of the Sky" is BiS for heavy-type spellcards and last words
"Puppeteer and Necromancer" is BiS for light-type spellcards and last words
And "Unknown Barrier Team" is BiS for energy-type spellcards and last words.

The 4* cards are generally not worth your time. Possible exceptions are "A Warm Meal" because a party accuracy buff can be useful... but it can only be used by the rare support-type character. "Frozen-over Gensokyo" is tied for the best liquid-type card in the game (liquid bullets have been shafted thusfar), so that's the other one maybe worth you attention.

Hiffu cards are overall not as good as the main story ones, but the most recent one is OK.

As for what you should farm first, definitely red marisa. Everyone benefits from +2 spirit power. After that get BiS cards for your strongest last words. For example: Hunter Flan benefits greatly from "Unknown Barrier Team"
