I really wish I liked ProSeka, since it has a nice song selection and of course I love vocaloid, but even ignoring the issues you stated, something about it just feels off. There's nothing wrong with starting with MegaMix.
The only real issue is how much of a cashgrab it is with being more or less just a port of the older game. The game itself is fine.
There's also a pirated version of the actual arcade game for PC floating around, so it just depends if you want to give Sega money or not.

i've played nearly every project diva excluding the nintendo ones. short answer is you don't really have to play more than one, unless you really like them. that list makes it look like it's a much bigger franchise than it actually is. the gameplay changes slightly over time but they retain a core list of similar songs, adding new hits as they get newer. the main appeal of these games is the Diva rooms where you give vocaloids gifts you unlock with the diva points you get from beating songs. if you visit the diva rooms on their official birthdays, the other vocaloids will throw a party for them. a consistent challenge throughout the franchise is beating the songs to purchase the official modules (outfits) used in the songs, so the video looks cooler when you play them. you can also choose whatever outfit you want to exploit the song's specific camera angles to see panties.

on the PSP you basically only have Project Diva, Project Diva 2nd. Extend is an expansion pack for 2nd, so you can skip 2nd.

then you have project diva F and F 2nd on PS3. if you played all four games up to this point and are satisfied you can basically stop here.

project diva Future Tone on PS4 with its two massive download content packs, Future Sound and Colorful Tone, is easily your best one-stop project diva experience. it's got a pretty big playlist with those content packs. you can play just this one and feel pretty satisfied i think.

you're never going to find the Project Diva Arcade cabinets. if you want the arcade experience you have to emulate Project Diva Arcade Future Tone on PC and buy one of the mini Hori controllers, which isn't necessary. you can just use a regular controller. this is also a one-stop replacement for playing any of the other games if you absolutely don't give a shit about the diva rooms and unlocking things experience.

then finally there's mega 39's on switch/PC, which is missing a lot of PDAFT's tracks and not a recommended buy in my opinion because it contains Denuvo. also to get the best deal on it with extra songs you have to buy the VIP Edition, which contains an "Item unlock key" which you will have to manually disable on steam if you don't want your diva points maxed and all modules/accessories unlocked from the start of the game. it seems like it has a decent tracklist anyway but i'm not going to play it because PDAFT is better.

tl;dr emulate PDAFT and the PSP games if all you have is a PC, or simply consider the PS4 game and stop there.

the differences in gameplay are also quite small. they all contain four notes, and all of them can be played two-handed. the d-pad matches the buttons. there are also note holds. they add star notes later on and slides to mega mix, which are basically the same thing. there are also multi-button presses which are usually not difficult i still think are really gay. they all have chance time iirc, which is a section at the end of the song where if you full combo you usually get a different ending to the video.

the PSP games are the most quaint i think. basic gameplay, classic songs and grinding diva points to unlock costumes is fun. it's a challenge added that encourages you to actually play everything to get a bunch of diva points, instead of scanning the playlist for your favorite songs and just playing those, which is what you're most likely going to do at an arcade, or with mega mix if you buy the unlock key. i think that key is meant for returning fans who are completely done with the unlocking things mechanic, or for kids who cry when they can't have shit. i'm not against unlocking everything again myself, i believe it makes the game more engaging. if i ever launch PDAFT these days i usually play 3 songs tops and stop.

it's also kinda making a lot of assumptions that someone unfamiliar with the games wouldn't notice. The native home games have different mechanics and charting and are generally easier to get into compared to arcade. Arcade's charting is harder on average and there's a few charts that are also harder due to them being designed for the arcade setup. Granted proper macroing alleviates those issues, but it's still something to keep in mind. He also didn't mention Mirai which is absolutely easier than even f/f2nd but still has a few exclusives due to the nendoroid license letting gumi sneak in. There's also X which is a controversial entry due to how modules are obtained and how it implements a story mode. There's still a few good songs so at the very least it's worth a quick look.

Nah, in my opinion you can go ahead and play everything from PSP's Diva 2nd up to PS3/Vita's Diva F2nd before anything else. Yes, all of them, it's not exactly a huge time investment. Extend isn't an "expansion pack" and technically does NOT have all the songs from 2nd, but they still share a lot so you can skip either if you want. The PS3 games are easily emulatable.
There's also the first PSP game which is kinda dull, but you can check it out as well if curious. And then there's X with its annoying as fuck unlock system which you can still play if you own a Vita/PS4, because the gameplay remains fun.

Now, Future Tone is stupid. It's an arcade game port and should be considered last. You can pick it up in whatever version you want (FT/AFT/MM+), but it's effectively a parallel series with different gameplay/charting meant for completely different controls, and is not by any means the ultimate experience.
Are you an absolute madman? Go ahead and grind it with a regular controller and macros until your muscle memory starts to make sense of it. Rich? Get the DIVALLER and have a fucking blast. Not so rich? Get the minicon and still have fun, then eventually realize that you're gimped in high level charts due to being unable to mash the same button with both hands (source:me). Want to just try it out and see how it's supposed to play before you invest? Keyboard.
None of the above? Play IA/VT and Project Mirai.

one of the biggest project diva brotips is do not wait until you're stuck on a hard/extreme chart and actually mad at it to realize you should have been playing with both hands the entire time. i found it's really easy to slip into doing that. the portable charts are so easy you can beat normal charts one-handed. you can FC easy charts with your feet. forcing yourself to use the D-pad late-game feels like you hit a hundred foot wall in skill level.

later iterations have more stuff to do than 1st or 2nd but they're practically like dollhouses for otaku to pander their waifus and feel their presence or pretend they're in their room. you can take screenshots, you can buy stuff from the shop and customize their rooms, change their outfits, change the songs, wait for little random events to happen. in the later games you can play rock paper scissors with miku, give her gifts to which they all have preferences for and will react to, and also pat her head/grab her chest. there were also photo/video libraries you can unlock stuff inside of, and there's some achievements related to the diva rooms i think.

i was playing mega mix just now and has anyone else noticed the mixdown for love is war sounds really shitty in mega mix? i dug into PDAFT and it seems it was taken directly from PDAFT since the file from it sounds the same.

the bass is too loud and the drums are too quiet. i ran an EQ over it to make it more bearable to listen to with my subwoofer but sound forge can't export 8-channel files. swapping the file could help but the real fix would have to come from ryo. 20-120Hz just removed a lot of punch from the sound but the real cone rumble is up in 160Hz.

genuinely don't think ryo is at fault for this. i wonder what he thinks of this mixing work.

mixing is kind of a fine-tuning thing as i understand it. when you do it for an album it all mixes into two channels. when they do it for project diva, it mixes into eight.

they request the stems from the producers to mix themselves into the game to incorporate the feature of vocals becoming muted when you miss a note. rock band and guitar hero do that too but with all instruments. in project diva there are two vocal channels isolated, left and right speakers amount to four channels. the rest are for guitar bass and drums. if they separated all of the instruments that would be sixteen channels or more, where the instruments are never getting muted so for compression sake they're only separating vocals from instrumentals in project diva, save some room for backup/power vocals. eight channels is enough for project diva.

channels 1/2/5/6 are the instrumental. there are no vocals here other than deep effect vocals.

the problem lies in how those multiple stem channels get mixed down into LR pairs of channels to be used in the game. if they apply the wrong gain to the channels in the mixes used for project diva, the result just doesn't sound right.

it's more about consistency than integrity at that point i guess because this bass is so loud in my sound system it's rattling the cones and i can't hear the drums so i'm tapping to a beat solely by miku's voice. i think they fucked this mix up pretty badly.

Yes, most concerts use the SEGA model or that newer super ugly model, with the exception of that miku expo that was probably entirely in house using the kickstarter money. Though you can get pretty intimate with the model in miku VR (especially if you have a VR area large enough so you can get close to the module) with the theater mode being kinda like a PV, but the game itself is very mediocre and definitely not worth buying a headset for.

I think that's part of the beauty of Vocaloid as a whole for me.
In my eyes, Miku is a thoughtful, hardworking cheerful girl who tries her best everyday and is very grateful for everything.
To someone else, Miku is a blunt, tsundere rebel who does things her own way.
I don't know how to exactly describe why, but it's oddly charming to me. All the ideas coming together, but stemming from the same thing. There's nothing quite like vocaloid.

I listened to the song you posted and you might be right, the difference is very clear between the two versions of her in that one and generally speaking, I also hear some similarities between the Cevio Yukari of your song and the one I posted. I can usually recognise which version of her is used, but maybe not this time. I think it's fine to use the VOCALOID tag on Cevio voicebanks and versions of original Vocaloids as well, maybe even some UTAU as well like Teto. It's very convinient for me when I'm searching for new songs every weekend, that producers use it as an umbrella term for synthetized vocals in general. This is the largest net so to speak, that I can cast and catch a lot of stuff with, which I can sort trough for the hidden gems. In other words, bigger song pool, better odds of finding really good ones, even though it requires more effort. What I find outrageous on the other hand is, utaiteniggers using the tag on their videos, no respect for them at all, zero.

Sorry for sperging out about it, I'm just a jaded oldfag(2009) who still loves LukaV2, Vocaloid Yukari and IA but can't stand LukaV4X(JP) and Cevio/Neutrino versions of already existing characters. They just don't sound right. Uncanny? Too human? Too close to their providers?(or too different from their old VBs?) I don't know. AI talkbanks don't even sound wrong(except IA!) but the singing ones... don't sit well with me 99% of the time.
