Alright, as much as I hate dungeon crawlers, you fags got me to play this. And I have to say, shit is pretty cash, hard as a bitch though Chen fucked my shit up. Anyway, any tips on what skills I should focus on for China and what level I should be before fighting Chen?

>> No.3974134

Tip #1: FUCK SAKUYA! She's as useless as shit in this game. Drop her and replace her with China for now. Try to be around level 7 before facing Chen. And be sure to get Rumia later on.

Tip #2: focus on China's ATK and DEF

Sakuya's power to boost everyone's speed is INVALUABLE. Speed up and make attacks much faster than your opponent.

If you're having trouble with Chen, continue with main quest and get Cirno first, then come back and freeze dat cat.

Also, don't bother with EVA, it's broken.

I mainly used China as a support tank and debuffer. Her attacks suck pretty hard later, so forget about her atk.

I'd also recommend to always take Reimu with you. Mass PAR attack, okay damage, awesome buffs, group heal and not too bad defensive stats make her a great party member.

She's always the first character of mine targeted, no matter which row she's in. INSTANT DEATH. Unless of course the enemy uses magic.

I haven't seen any strategies that really shine anywhere, except of course for bumping up the speed of Cirno or Marisa a bit (or Patchy, Reimu, or Alice a lot) and spamming AoE attacks and killing everything before they get a chance to attack. That only works for random encounters, though, and bosses have a depressing tendency to one-shot my back-rankers and ignore my tanks until the tanks are softened up enough with mult-target attacks that single-targets can one-shot them.

AHAHA...HAHA....
...Oh, you were serious? Hold on, let me laugh even harder.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sakuya is one of the must play chars. with a cast of 40, some choices are debatable, but some chars are 100% essential and should always be in your party. Sakuya is not just one of them, she should be near the top of that list.
Dump all her level up bonuses into her speed. That's all she is, a speed battery. Boss fight starts, load up that lunar dial (or The World then Lunar Dial), then switch her out once she's out of sp. Back in to re-dial once she's full, etc.

WHAT

I didn't even realize there was an English patch, I've been playing this with ATLAS all this time (at 19/20F now). How fucking long has this been out? After the initial release, /jp/ hadn't been talking about the game until the last couple days, so I'm guessing it must have just come out?

Looks like I still need to stick with the Japanese wiki though for the point in the game I'm at.

The game is a pain in the ass near the start in regards to boss fights, frequently grinding is all you can do; you just don't have enough characters to swap in and out, adequate equipment choices, or SP totals, to do much in the way of strategy.

Of course later in the game you still have to grind just to make the boss fights remotely possible (even with good strategy) and massive grinding is required if you suck and want to just steamroll the boss

After you finish the 6 elemental forms and he goes back to his (final) non-attribute form, he only has 200k HP left, just burn him down. Starbow Break, Master Spark, and Gugnir finished him off for me. The Japanese wiki scared me into thinking he'd one-shot my characters like Mokou does in her final form, but I guess he just spams that one attack and it eventually overwhelms you; I took one hit from it and it didn't even kill Marisa (who had already Sparked anyway) and barely scratched a heavily buffed Remi.

The wiki reccomends level 90-110 for the fight, I grinded until Remi was 90 before trying it (I've kept her in my party nearly 100% of the time for max XP). During the fight the main key is keeping buffs up as much as possible (Reimu/Yukari) and burning down each elemental form pretty fast (they have around 230k or so HP I believe). It might have just been luck, but he never used that nasty non-attribute all-target attack during the elemental forms on my successful attempt (on a previous attempt I lost too many of my offensive characters early, each form dragged on a long time, and he kept mixing in that nasty attack). Don't even try debuffing him, I dumped Komachi from my party after the first attempt; also defensive stats are quite valuable, you can seriously reduce his damage with defense, Komachi sucks here.

Stick with durable characters, except for Marisa and maybe Chen, who won't be staying in play very long. Patchy or Suwako will get destroyed by the all-target physical attacks. I used Tenshi (virtually invincible) and Meiling for tanks; Remi, Suika, Flan, Chen, Marisa as my only attackers; Sakuya, Yukari, Reimu, Ran for support (tossed an attack or two with some of them also), and Minoriko (+Reimu and Meiling) for healing. He bullshit one-shotted Minoriko and Chen with single-target attacks when they were in the back, but they were the only characters I lost.

>> No.3980608

>>3980449
Suika is one of the rare characters who's a physical attacker with higher magic defense than physical. I really don't even use Yuugi anymore (been a long time since I fought a boss that's weak to fire), she dies too easily to magic, and is much slower than Suika.

Suika is garbage against random enemies, but she's one of the more useful physical attackers against bosses (and there aren't many characters out there with *powerful* wind attacks, Aya's attacks are prettty crappy)

>>3980518
I spent an entire afternoon trying to beat Mokou, she's bullshit. The majority of the fight is just tedious, not even hard, then she obliterates you if you don't do 80k damage to her immediately after she enters her final form (which doesn't even deplete her gauge that much, and wipes all your debuffs on her). I had to pull out a calculator and keep track of her HP total (and remember she auto-heals for 16k EVERY TURN she gets) and prepare to burn her down (Master Spark + a couple more attacks) when she reached her final form. The problem is, swapping in Marisa too soon would result in her getting one-shotted by Mokou's normal attacks, so I had to be ultra-careful. One time I swapped her in too late and Mokou blew me away before Marisa's turn. Another time I did it too early and Marisa got a turn right before Mokou, had her focus (BAD MOVE) depleting her gauge too much so Mokou again blew me away before Marisa could Spark.

>> No.3980619

>>3980429
Make sure Sakuya has enough SP to use Lunar Dial. Have your starting group be Remilia, Sakuya, Marisa, and Patchy in that order. After Sakuya Dials, switch her out for Reimu, then use Reimu's buff and use Reimu for healing. And have Marisa use her MAG buff, switch her back out for Sakuya when she's out of SP (magic missile is good enough if you don't have enough for Master Spark). Patchy should use the one that says you shouldn't expect to OHKO enemies with high magic defense, and you should have Reimu focus on healing, since Meiling has a good physical defense but poor magic defense. Remilia is mostly there for soaking up hits, so if you feel lucky or are sure Reimu will be able to heal her fast enough before Meiling can attack again, use the curse.

For level, don't worry about it too much, as long as Sakuya can use Lunar Dial.

Thanks. Looks like I have to grind a little more.
His elemental attacks still onehit most of my damage dealers and those who survive have to be switched out right after because the next one will kill them. I did most of the fight with Remilia and Reimu only because I lost the other characters in the middle. At the end, Reimu couldn't keep up with healing, buffs ran out and SP was too low to keep going.

I didn't use Marisa since lvl 20 or something, I hope master spark is worth it.

actually Master Spark didn't do very impressive damage against his final form, even with full SP and a big magic buff, I almost thought he was still in his MYS form (which was annoyingly the last elemental form he used, it was the most dangerous to me) which looks similar. Spark did like 100k, Starbow Break did 65k, Gugnir did 45k. I sparked several times during the fight though so it was definitely useful (used Marisa right at the start so she could get a speed buff, then also sparked two of the elemental forms... did 200k damage to his SPI form).

Marisa was one of my most useful characters for random battles, until 15F, where everything started being resistant to her; Spark is handy for nearly every boss fight though (except resistant bosses like Yukari)
