Archer sacrifices his peace for eternity to save a person who ends up betraying him and helping to execute him, thereby expediting his trip into Fucked-over-by-the-world-stan. Of course, he accepts his fate because he initially thinks that he'll be helping people in his eternity of servitude and battle, but it turns out that he has to adhere to a doctrine of slaughtering countless humans, regardless of guilt or innocence, in order to save a vague "majority" that may or may not deserve it. During this, the ideals that he fought and died for are slowly eroded away by the ugliness of the very same species he tried to save, be it present in the many or few. He has absolutely no way of escaping this fate, forever doomed to repeat this existence that goes against his very being.

I'd be kind of pissed off too.

Actually, Archer became "better" than Kiritsigu in that regard. Kiritsigu realized that he wanted nothing more to be with Iri and Ilya at the end of Fate/Zero. Archer never had this.

Archer took what Kiritsigu wanted and amped it to 11.
