Please advise a fairly new person to JP and I beg you do not shitpost me.

I've finished a basic vocab deck and grammar back. Following your sage advice, I am going to start reading every day now. I am not sure how to explain it well but can you please tell me - when I am reading, and say I read a sentence, and I ''instinctively'' already know what it means, all of it, am I still supposed to analyze each sentence I read and identify every piece of grammar in it? For example if I know the full sentence's meaning, it's obvious to me, and I understand it well, am I still supposed to deconstruct each sentence and you know, go ''ah, here's the -te form'', ''here's the conditional'', ''that's the potential form right here''.

Is it necessary if I get full meaning from the get go just based on the vocabulary used in the sentence? This will slow down reading but if identifying grammar patterns in each sentence is important, I will do it.

how do you learn kanji?
I used to learn just their definition and translation

Ive been trying words now, but its much harder because a lot of the time I only know 1 kanji and words can be like 4 kanjis

yet everyone advises that method, it seems rather counterintuitive to me.

you cant really study kanji in anki, anki just helps you remember things, you can try mining, writing them out a few times, reading different words using them, mnemonics, and just time and familiarity will help too
you are asking "how do i screw bolts with a hammer", its not the right tool for it
you can try sentence cards i guess but that's the same as reading, cept worse

Hell no, I wanted to understand japanese to play h-games easier, because back then ITH wouldn't hook most games properly. Grinded out about 5000 words in anki mining or so. Then out of nowhere the golden age of hooks and translation tools released in that time. Translation aggregator was miles better, DeepL took off to the races. All of my grinding and effort seemed to no longer be necessary. I could understand the premise of the plot, and most sentences with or without a tool as well. My goal was essentially crushed by others creating better tools for EOP's. I've gotten into art, and have a few books and gumroads that are in japanese, so I came back.

I'm quite aware, I'd look at both the raw and the deepl regurgitation. It's pretty easy to tell when it's unsatisfactory. Used a stylized html file and clipboard inserter to parse words I didn't know with yomichan, then added them to my mining deck that I eventually stopped actually keeping up with.
