Though KKHTA has one quality that I like; the youkai's true form being portrayed alienish and horrific, such as koishi's tentacle monster form after she is beheaded by yukari, I like to think that the "cute girl" appearance youkai take on is nothing more than a facade to hide their true weird form

Gensokyo isn't bad by feudal / early Meiji era Japanese standards, but it's not a place that is safe to go out at night or into the woods alone without protection.
