If you are playing them on emulators/modded PSP's and Vita's you might as well try them all. Here is the summary:

Project Diva, PSP: Definitely worth a play. Very, very easy and simple. It's rustic, soulful. Doesn't even use the D-pad. No arrows, nothing extra. Just the four face buttons.

Project Diva 2nd & Project Diva Extend, PSP:
If you are not paying for them, no reason not to play both. But if you had to pick one Extend will be the one to play. Closer to modern Diva gameplay, uses the D-Pad now and charts can get really insane at higher difficulties. Great song selection as well. Plenty of modules. Some DLC you can even track down still.

Dreamy Theater, Dreamy Theater 2nd&Extend, PS3;
Don't worry about this. It's a shame, it's a really fun game. HD graphics, 60FPS ports of all the PSP games on PS3 but in order to "activate" the game you need to connect your PSP to a real console and it's a nightmare to do. I have the save files though from when I did it and they will work on emulators if you want them. But the original Dreamy Theater always needs a PSP connected and I don't know a work around for that, but you can play 2nd&Extend off a save file.

Project Diva F & F2nd Vita, PS4:
Play both. Excellent games, the bread and butter of Project Diva. Excellent song selection, gameplay, everything. I recommend them on Vita over PS3 due to the framerate issues on PS3 and I prefer the Vita controls over a DS3. I'd struggle to pick one vs. the other. I think most people generally agree that F2nd was much harder. The only Diva game that a Jin song appears in as well.

Project Diva X Vita, PS4:
The black sheep of the Diva family. Personally? I love X but they added a bullshit 'story mode' and everyone including me hated it but the song selection is decent and the 60FPS gameplay appreciated. PS4 or Vita but I still prefer Vita.

Project Diva Future Tone, PS4:
The be all, end all Project Diva. An almost 1:1 port of the arcade game. Miku's magnum opus. Buy it. Buy all the DLC (except the module unlock one) and enjoy for years to come. Over 200 songs and if you want to play on an arcade pad it's ready to go for even more entertainment.

Project Diva MegaMix/Mega39's Switch:
Port of FT to Switch. Generally, a fair port but it has plenty of issues and lots of it feels like they didn't handle it with care. If you have FT on PS4 this is worth a skip unless you absolutely need it to be portable.

Vocaloid Rhythm Game Bonus Round:

Megpoid The Music, PSP:
Gumi's rhythm game. It's a shame it didn't do well, we all love Gumi. Decent song selection. Never translated (all Diva games besides Dreamy Theater have translations now), weird gameplay (that is also really fucking hard) and the songs are short like 1 minute long. Worth a try if you are a big Vocaloid fan and love Gumi.

IA/VT, Vita:
IA's rhythm game. Absolutely worth a play. One of my favorite rhythm games. All IA, no ONE and no Orangestar. But besides those little drawbacks it's fun and has a huge, massive library of songs. Sometimes animated PVs, sometimes 3D. Overall, great game do recommend.

Project 575, Vita:
Addicted to Vocaloid? Digging through the weeds? If you have a hacked vita just grab 575. It's a rhythm game made for Azuki and Matcha. Uses the touch screen exclusively. Really frustrating for English speakers to play because half the game mechanic relies on finishing the lyrics in real-time and there is no translation. Neat game, not all that much fun. Matcha cute.

Musynx, PS4, Vita:
Arguably the closest we got to "Chinaloid Diva" it's a typical rhythm game using lanes. Beatmania like? Or maybe MaxxRespect. Either way it's the largest concentration of Chinaloid music in a rhythm game I've ever seen. Luo Tianyi, Ling and Stardust. Maybe more but I'm not an expert. Nice way to dip your toes into that genre of Vocaloid.

My protip in general:

Vita is king. Hacked Vita will play 90% of the Project Diva/Vocaloid game library. Anything on Vita and PSP will just work. Eventually, when the fangame MegaMix f is released it will even have considerable overlap with FT's song library.

I'll just add that Future Tone is artificially counter-intuitive to learn if you want to play it on a regular controller, and just not as fun. Even using the middle row of the thing Miku plays with in the picture is an improvement, but if you can actually afford an touch-slider con you'll have a blast with it.
Also the very first game is very basic and honestly not great. Grindy unlocks too. Probably still worth checking out if you're curious about it, depending on how much you hate the thought of playing through everything on Normal in yet another game before you unlock the real difficulties. The "good" news is that this one doesn't have anything past Hard.

There is a diva con on amazon.jp for $100 that is pretty decent. Even has a touch pad. Otherwise you can import a Hori mini-pad for like $80-$100 instead.

As for framerates on F/F2nd you are still stuck. You can download patches to unlock the FPS emulating them but they tend to fuck up and act funny. On Vita the resolution is lower and I found that they run much better.

Project Diva Mirai DX, 3DS:
Really fun, chibi art style. The only Diva game that has Gumi in it. Several Gumi songs with other Cryptonloids. Some mini games. You can play with buttons or tapping on the touch pad. Worth a look. Some exclusive songs not in any other Diva's as well, besides just the Gumi ones.

There are like two Project Mirai's released in Japan, one in the US which was DX so DX is the definitive one and it's in English.

I have no experience with the mini-touchslider-con, but while having an actual slider is nice, it doesn't look like it would be very comfortable to use at high levels, plus I recall tokaku saying the build was pretty shit overall.
But more importantly, the buttons are still too small to slam them with both hands comfortably, so in that regard it's no better than a diva f minicon which has better spacing and 4 extra buttons you can use for tech patterns and whatnot.

Everything being objective SynthV is easier than Vocaloid 4 or 5 for me and most people I talk to about it who have used both. V5 was a pretty small improvement over V4 anyway which is one of the reasons most people can easily pass on it. Adds almost nothing new with a host of new issues.

Vocaloid 5 was a commercial disaster. So any voicebank that was released on it was basically left to die. Importing old voicebanks doesn't always work and some won't port at all. There are other issues with V5 that people familiar with the software can bitch about it.

So as a result Vocaloid as a program is more or less dead. Naturally, people will still use it for years to come as a legacy program but a lot of people have just moved on. CeVIO or SynthV primarily. Both of those programs have gotten major updates and multiple, high profile voicebank releases in the last couple years. SynthV in particular is almost constantly introducing new tools like a recent update to StudioPro that just let's almost any vocal sing tri-lingually and other black magic shit.

Well, if you want to use Miku you either gotta go V4 or look into NT. Most of the big names never made it onto V5 including Meeks because of how Yamaha botched their licensing deals or whatever. I know it's possible to port old voices over but I don't know how easy or difficult that is and what the issues are using old banks on V5.

I tried the PSP game via emulation with the translation on a whim and was obsessed. Ive played a lot of it and i'm wondering if there are any other Project Diva games I can play on PC?

I know Future Tone Arcade is playable, but I don't think i'm ready for all the mechanics that introduces yet. I'm trying to find a middleman.

happy birthday whoo! he is still my favorite producer after all these years, there is still nothing quite like his music out there. sure, there are producers that produce more complex songs than his. and while vocaloid math rock is nothing but a niche, there are still a handful of math rock producers that produces genuinely impressive songs. but from all those songs that I've listened to, none of them have that sense of joy that whoo's music has. his songs are timeless that his debut piece may as well came out today. the dreamy miku tuning matched with the complex, but not overwhelming instrumentation is a match made in heaven. his lyrics have that sense of joyf too.
his albums are the ones that i always go back to whenever i feel overwhelmed with new releases, it's nostalgic that i often found myself reminiscing about how great the early 2010s was for vocaloid.
