You like ZUN?

His early work was a little too FM for my tastes, but when Ghostly Field Club came out in 2003, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Ryukishi07, but I think ZUN has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

In 2006, ZUN released this, Magical Astronomy. His most accomplished album. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "Necrofantasia", a song so catchy, most people probably don't read the story in the booklet. But they should, because it's not just about the horrors of late-stage capitalism and demographic collapse, it's also a personal statement about the doujinshi creator himself.

Well no shit, I was listening to the Magical Astronomy CD today and was reflecting on how it was one of the best in Hifuu Club.
Depending on my feelings at the time, I sometimes prefer virtually any other of the albums up to Neo-traditionalism of Japan. They're all great.

...there is an idea of a Miyadeguchi Mizuchi, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only a vengeful spirit, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel possessed flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.
