I hate this VN more than anything else.

It sent me into such a depressive state that I was vomiting regularly.
It lasted for over a year.
It caused me to drop out of college as a junior.
It caused me to move back in with my dad.
It caused my dad to put me in goddamn therapy.
It ruined my life.

I've basically turned into Tomoya's dad. I'm just now recovering from the depression and now I'm truly grasping how much this VN screwed me over. This shit needs to be banned, it's like cancer.

Anyways, I'm done venting. I just had to get it off my chest so I can try to move on.

Planetarian isn't very depressing, just semi-sad. But still extremely good, you should read it.

After I read Clannad, for more than a week I woke up teary eyed every morning. Usually I didn't even remember what I had been dreaming but I knew it was something Clannad related since I had been crying and was still feeling sad after waking up.

But being depressed for more than a year from reading a VN is something else....

I don't get this. Clannad is not even a depressing a games? Everything was fixed after Tomoya gathered all the LIGHTS so why is it still depressing. It didn't leave a deep impression for you after you finished the game unlike Cross Channel and Planetarian.

Planetarian was different and Yumemi died saving Junker-san and Junker-san will probably join her as well. It is like having a BAD END as the canon route.

If Clannad had ended with Tomoya waking up like Taichi toward the end I would have understood the depressed feelings.

Any explanations for this?

The true end was so shit and disney that I ignored it and was depressed anyway. I was feeling pretty much like >>3927842

>> No.3928032

OP here, maybe I should explain.

The reason it impacted me so much is because I could relate to it heavily. For one, my mom died when I was a kid and my dad was in the same exact situation as Tomoya's dad except he also had another daughter to raise.

This daughter, my sister, also passed away when I was in high school, but I got over it because I was just an egocentric faggot teenager back then. When I read After Story it came back and hit me like a bus when Nagisa died, then it went in reverse and ran me over again when I got to the part about Tomoya's dad - this is when I started vomiting. Ushio dying at the end pretty much sealed the deal. I was already pretty depressed after reading Kotomi's ending because it sort of reminded me of my mom.

So yeah, I already had issues to begin with. I don't imagine any of you could empathize on my level. Regardless, it ruined my life.

I sure don't think collecting lights and rezzing the dead waifu is the whole point of the game? I admit I might be a bit biased because of how unlikeable Nagisa is to me but the bonding between Ushio and Tomoya after Nagisa dead was some of the most touching scenes ever and having Nagisa reviving just retconned the whole thing.

Also just watch Avatar today and I am somewhat shocked that people are hailing it as revolutionary and so.

Forced is usually used when the author, instead of relying on his characters and story to provided the sentiment, goes the extra mile to force it upon you.
It is not tied to quantity (for example, lots of tragic events), but rather presentation(how one event tore up the heart into million pieces each dipped in molten lava and how nothing will be the same again, repeating these sentiments over and over like you are an idiot who cannot get it).
Trolls use it for things they do not like, like most terms.

Eh I'll just split them up I guess. Wanted just one big spoiler with otherspoilers in it rather than make more small ones. Oh well retyping it just because I want to see it right.

Well according to the drama CD after Yumemi derpherp dies, he wonders around to colonies where people are still left and shows them the stars with a homemade projector, gaining the name Man of the Stars. The CD starts here. He's old and is found in the snow by three kids. Long story short, he shows the kids the stars, the kids are so impressed that they want to become his disciples, but before that happens he dies due to age and illness making that his last projection. During the end he sees Yumemi who comes for him, and gives in after realizing that she actually forgave him for everything, following her to heaven.Finally as he reaches heaven Yumemi greets him crying;_; then they both proceed for a projection in Yumemi's former planetarium but this time, filled with the people Yumemi was always waiting for.;_;

If this works it means I'm an idiot and can only have a spoiler in a spoiler.

How did he survived the mech toward the end of Planetarian again?
Maybe it is time for me to re read it.

So out of all the Key games, AIR is supposed to be the most depressing one at the end?

They also mention that. Well in case you forgot he did plant a grenade in that and destroyed it. Well after Yumemi derp dies, he's found lying there with a broken leg and rescued. From that point on he'd become the Man of the Stars that would bring a starry sky to humans that had no idea how the night sky looked any more.
