Letty sighed, looking around. She was late again. If Lily didn't hurry the park would get crowded and they'd never get on any of the better rides.

"SPRING~"

Letty looked up to see Lily harassing a bunch of school children who were walking past. Letty's shoulders slumped. If that's why Lily had been late... Shaking her head, she walked up behind Lily and smacked her in the back of the head. Tears welled up in Lily's eyes.

"OW~ Why'd you do that for Letty?"

Letty sighed. "If you take any longer we won't be able to get on any of the good rides! Hurry up."

It took Letty a few moments to catch her breath. “Hello, Cirno,” she managed to gasp out.

With that, Cirno stormed off.

Letty sighed again. She’d have to buy some chocolate frogs on the way home to attempt to appease Cirno. Otherwise, she certainly wouldn’t have a moment’s peace. Letty picked her self up off the ground, brushing the dust off of her skirt.

“I’m sorry…,” Lily started to apologize, but was cut off by Letty.

“Don’t worry about it. She’s always like that,” Letty shrugged her shoulders and shook her head, “If I give her a box of chocolate frogs, all will be forgiven.”

Letty was taken aback by the sudden outburst as Lily pointed at the map. “Youkai Mountain? Isn’t that the new ride that just opened?”

Lily nodded emphatically, “Uh-huh! Sis told me about it. She said it was an awesome ride!”

Letty shuddered involuntarily. Lily’s sister was not someone you wanted to meet, nor upset.

“Can we? Please? It’ll be fun!”

“Alright. Alright. Just calm down. It’ll take a while to get there. It’s all the way at the back of the park. I just hope the line isn’t too long by the time we get there.”

Walking through the park, it seemed less crowded than Letty thought it would be. The pair walked past several game stands on the way to the ride, and Letty made a few mental notes as to which ones she wanted to hit on the way back. Lily ran from booth to booth looking at all the prizes and pointing out ones she thought were cute to Letty. After a few more minutes, the two of them reached the Mountain themed area of the park. There were several people running around in tengu or kappa costumes, and most of the booths were staffed by people in similar garb. This area was far more crowded than the previous areas that Letty and Lily had walked through.

The line for Youkai mountain was quite long, and easily distinguishable from a distance. Queuing up near a sign that read ‘approximate wait time from this point [30] minutes’.

“Mnn.. At least it’s not too bad of a wait,” Letty muttered, wishing they had gotten in a bit sooner.

The line behind the two grew quickly, despite the fact that the line actually moved quite quickly. Letty was quite glad that they had arrived when they did.

“I can’t wait! I’m so excited! Sis said this was such a great ride!” Lily was nearly hopping up and down with excitement.

“Well, we’re almost to the front of the line. So it should only be a couple more minutes.”

“I wanna ride in the first cart Letty!”

“Ergh… Are you sure?” Letty hated riding in the first cart. She always felt like she was going to be thrown out of the front and hanging off the top of the hill before the ride really started got her a little antsy.

Lily nodded vigorously. “The front is the best! You get to see everything first!”

The carts reached the top of the hill in a matter of moments, the usual clanking chain noise slowing as the cars were pushed off one by one. Letty’s grip on the bar in front of her tightened as the first car hung just over the top of the hill. She hated this part the most. It was almost like time had stopped. She looked down into the tunnel that the cars were about to race into. Her grip tightened again. Then suddenly the cars rushed into the darkness.

Moments later, the two got off the ride.

“That was fun Letty! We should do it again!”

Letty just stood there. Silently. Slightly twitching.

“I… I think we should go sit down for a bit…” Letty instantly understood why Lily’s sister had loved that ride so much.

Lily looked concerned. “Are you alright?”

“Y… yeah… I… I just need to sit down for a bit… Why don’t we go to the netherworld section and look at the cherry blossoms like you wanted to earlier.”

Lily took the box from Letty and tore off the wrapping. Opening it she found a small ball of fluff with wide eyes and an open mouth on the end of a keychain. She lit up like a light bulb.

“Oh WOW Letty! You got me a FOE keychain! Where did you find it? They’re IMPOSSIBLE to find anymore! How did you know?!”

Letty just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. She knew because Lily complained about the lack of that particular keychain whenever it crossed her mind. Which was frequently.

“In any event,” Letty clapped her hands together, “Since we’re done eating, let’s go play some games.”

“ALRIGHT GAMES~”

Lily stood up quickly, grabbing Letty’s garbage as well as her own, and threw it into the garbage can next to the bench. Lily then grabbed Letty’s hand and dragged her off to one of the game booths that they had walked past on the way to Youkai Mountain, prattling on about the particular plush toy she had seen in the booth that she really wanted.

Letty chuckled to herself. The reaction Lily had to the plush was well worth the money that she had spent.

The two spent several more hours wandering around the park, going on the rides playing a few more games, and going back to look at the cherry blossoms again. The sun was setting by the time Letty had recovered from the second ride on Youkai Mountain.

Lilly giggled, “Thank you, Letty. Today’s been a wonderful day~!”

“It’s not over yet. There’s still one ride to go on.” Letty said, standing up from the bench. Turning around to face Lily, Letty held out her hand. Lily just looked up at Letty confused. Growing impatient, Letty grabbed Lily by the hand and started dragging her off towards the middle of the park. When they got there, night had fallen, and all the lights on the rides and around the park had come on. In front of them was a giant Ferris Wheel. There was no line at this time of day, and the attendant looked a little surprised that there were two people here.

“Come on Lily. We have to hurry.” Letty pushed Lily into the carriage, before turning to talk to the attendant. The attendant grinned and laughed. Letty then turned and got into the carriage with Lily.

“What was that?” Lily inquired.

The ride jerked alive and began it’s slow rotation. The two were the only two on the ride. The enclosed carriage shut out most of the noise from the amusement park. As the carriage approached the top of the wheel, it slowed and came to a stop exactly at the top. Lily looked over to Letty who was grinning a Cheshire cat grin. A few moments later there was a flash of light outside, followed by another, and another.

“Uwaaaaaaaa~ FIREWORKS~!” Lily looked like a kid in a candy shop.

“Yep. Happy Birthday Lily.”
