I feel similarly... I think people have forgotten how to have fun, in some ways. We're all so focused on not being cringe, or on all the other troubles in the world, in being "right" in arguments and everything else, that we've lost a sense of fun and whimsy in the world. It's not just folks getting older, it feels like as a society we don't remember how to enjoy just... dumb shit for its own sake. Everything has to be a side hustle or whatever, we can't just do, just create, just enjoy for its own sake. It's frustrating because I don't remember how to get back there, either. Photostories seem like so much work to set up, I really respect anyone who takes the time. I don't care how cringey the story is, I still respect the work.

We should have more fun, anons. Life is too short to not find happiness somewhere, you know?

I did as well, I'm pretty sure this is a Journey Girls prop -- but I'm not sure what release it's from. It was a lot of fun to go out and take these photos, even if it was blisteringly hot outside that day. I talked to several old men as they cast out on the lake to go fishing, as well. No one pays you any mind if they see you with a camera, no matter what you're doing. You guys should do what makes you happy.

How do you guys handle it when they don't send exactly what you ordered?
It's been happening a lot on etsy especially. For example ordered 1/4 shoes, but got the 1/3 version. Or eyes with the wrong size of pupils.

When I did until now, they resent the actual product for free. But even I'm starting to feel bad as I usually get to keep the "wrong" product too.
The stuff usually comes from China, so if I complain and they ask me to send the wrong stuff back, I might even lose out on it.

>> No.39012949

>>39012204
If they send you the wrong thing it's on them to pay return postage. It's one of the reasons they won't ask for it generally, as it cuts into their bottom line more than letting the product go for free.
I wouldn't worry about it, you're not the one who made the mistake and you should get what you order.

I keep hearing that Azone uses Obitsu bodies but I imagine that's just for character dolls and the like, right? Pure Neemo and other lines use their own bodies IIRC.
Mostly curious because of clothes. I want to learn how compatible clothes are among blythe, obitsu and pureneemo of the same scale.

In the age of social media, most people genuinely do not care. People actually come up to me pretty often to ask about them when I'm out taking photos, most people just seem to find it interesting that such big dolls exist, or want to ask about the process of taking photos with them. If people see you with props and a camera (or even a phone,) they seem to generally assume it's something business related -- at least in my experience.

This is true. It happened multiple times that I got the packet, and seen who made it, and the cost is less than half on their website. But I'd never find their website otherwise, and/or I'd have no smooth way of ordering from them.
I don't know. Stuff on Etsy is really expensive, but usually much higher quality than on ebay. Sometimes I was very impressed by the quality even. I know it's just another "marketplace", but still it seems to work out for now.

Depends on the scale and typeSince you mention blythe I assume the reference is obitsu 24, since each other's clothes fit perfectly (to the point that blythe owners often swap the body for better mvoement).
In that case, pure neemo M size is pretty close. They're slightly smaller (although their hips are wider for some reason) but as long as clothes aren't too tight they should be compatible I believe.
Additionally, browsing around I found a pure neemo series with this maid uniform and if I'm not mistaken another anon with an obitsu doll had the same uniform.

Don’t know if this is the case for your specific doll but I’ve noticed that some Saran hair fibers many Japanese dolls use has a sticky/waxy feeling by default. I own about 100 pureneemos and brand new ones will sometimes have a slight waxy feeling to their hair. A gentle cold wash with mild dish soap helps a little.

http://www.cosplaytutorial.com/list.php
There are a lot of helpful guides on here that teach the basics of sewing and materials. And in the OP there's a MEGA full of sewing books and patterns. There are a lot of patterns available on Etsy as well, a lot geared towards beginners. KitNKatShop has a lot of easy patterns with easy to follow instructions (I don't know if she's still making video demonstrations for them, but I know she did at one point) Sewing is one of those things you have learn hands on as you go really. I tried watching videos and reading tons of tutorials, and found that following along helps a lot. A good garment to start with is a circle skirt. They don't use a lot of fabric and it'll teach you stitches, how to hem, how to make a waist band and follow patterns. When it comes to dolls, learning to scale patterns and use measurements is going to be a key skill to learn.
For Prop building, there's some tutorials in that link as well, but depending on what you want to make I don't know how useful those will be. Small scale props they hold, scenery and furniture are going to be very different from each other in approach and materials you can use.
For props they hold you can get really creative depending on what you want them to be in the scene. You can model with clay, there's air drying and home oven drying, I prefer oven drying as I feel like it's harder when it's done. Spray it with a sealant like Mr. SuperClear to keep color from transferring. 3D printing is an option too, and if you don't want to invest in a personal printer, there are a lot of services that will do it for you and they're pretty reasonable since the prints will be smaller. I just had a zero blaster from Metroid printed and it was around $16. You will have to paint them yourself though. Christmas ornaments, wedding and party favors, table décor can yield great results for finding props and American Girl Doll/Our Generation doll props will mostly be in size too. American Girl props are especially helpful to google, as there are a lot of people who post step by step crafting guides as well as printables for papercrafts.
Scenery props are a lot more free form. You don't have to worry about them being perfectly in scale and you can use lots of different materials. Scrap wood, sticks, cardboard, paper-mache, PVC pipe etc. Depending on what you want to make there are tons of free to super expensive options. Also, the floral sections of hobby/craft shops like Joanns or Michaels will have a TON of stuff you can get (use coupons) to modify or use to make in scale scenery props like moss, small stones, mini silk flowers etc. They'll also just randomly have things that are close to scale like ladders and chairs from time to time. I don't know what people use them for, but they'll be there.
Furniture is complicated because it depends on a lot of things and can use a lot of different skills. If you want it to be permanent, semi-permanent or disposable can radically change what materials and tools you'll need. People have made amazing looking stuff just out of cardboard and scrap fabric though. Youtube search for doll furniture will have a lot of simple and interesting results to try. You can make a lot of simple but good looking stuff on the cheap and you can also go super hardcore and make permanent pieces out of wood and other durable materials depending on your own skill and comfort level. If you want to make the permanent stuff, just look at how people make real furniture and scale it down. Don't be afraid to cut a few corners in the structure though, it's only holding up a light doll, not a person. (For example, a simple bedframe can just be a wood rectangle with a piece of cardboard on top of it and a piece of foam wrapped in fabric is a mattress)
Don't be intimidated and just pick a project and run with it, and have fun!

Building onto this anon's post, you can make anything out of anything if you just need something quick, rather than something sturdy and reusable. A friend of mine does house sales and you can absolutely window-dress a bed out of some sheets, pillows, and cardboard boxes. I don't have any Minifee, but I'm familiar with them! I'd like to see your dolls if you'd like to share them, anon. The resin thread's over in /toy/, but that doesn't mean crossboarders are unwelcome, at least in my opinion. I collect resin and vinyl, personally.

I got the silicone body from Adyka in the mail a couple days ago, think this was discussed briefly in an earlier thread. First impressions is that seems pretty sturdy and of decent quality. It's pretty wide around the waist so most DD/DDdy clothes won't fit (at least not easily) unless they stretch. It comes with a bust but you have to supply your own F3 frame feet (legs are included) and arms. Generally I like it.

Thanks. Posing is pretty good, certainly more movement than a standard DD body. The knee and hip joints are super tight but that's probably a good thing since they're not serviceable at all. The silicone starts wrapping in weird ways if you're trying to make her sit on her knees though. Still early days for me to figure out what's possible here of course.

An anon in /toy/ pointed me over here for obitsu info, unfortunately I didn't find my answers in the faq so could anyone point me in the right direction?

I bought a 1/6 cheapo obitsu recently and was just looking for some basic tips about assembling, swapping parts, etc. One of the main things I wanted to read more about was how the smaller dolls' "realistic" eyes take on a red tint in the whites because of how far inset into the head they are; I wondered if there was a different type of eye or different strategy to use when setting them that could reduce this look, or if it's just a quirk of this type of cheap doll. Any videos from collectors of these types of dolls would be helpful as well. I can find a lot of unboxing/reviewing/first look videos but not really anything from people who have been collecting them awhile and know what they're doing with the specific doll type.
Thanks!

This thread is much more for the 1/3 and 1/4 side of vinyl, Obitsu dolls are welcome here, but their owners are few and far between. While you wait for any of them to chime in, check out the forum DollDreaming, they have a section for Obitsu dolls and while it's not very active, there are a lot of older threads with a lot of helpful information. https://www.dolldreaming.com/forum/52-obitsu/

i do this more with flannels that i do my hoodies, but i've done it before. i live in the midwest and never had anyone call me out on it being feminine. tho, it's enough work for me to keep the girls looking good in their outfits, let alone dress myself in anything but a band/anime tshirt, blue jeans and flannel shirt so im probably not the best when it comes to fashion questions.

There's difference in how they're maintained and what is and isn't possible with each as far as posing. Does anyone own a Pure Neemo character doll here? I’m planning to get one, Miriam from Assault Lily, and wanted to know how the head is constructed. Is it rooted hair or a wig and is there a headcap I can take off to move those doll eyes? Are the eyes swappable?

>> No.39357859

From what I understand talking to my friends and looking at my own doll (sugarcups Chocolala), if the eyes are inset, then the hair tends to be rooted.

>> No.39358095

>>39357859
Is it still possible to open the head when it’s rooted?

>> No.39361998

>>39358095
No, the eyes on Pure Neemo are painted on, and the hair is punched into the top of the head one strand at a time. That said, you can buy blank faces with no hair, and customize them as you see fit -- but generally if you want to swap the eyes and hair, you're better off getting a small Obitsu girl instead.

If the Azone or obitsu doll has inset eyes they will most likely have a detachable head cap that has rooted hair. Usually obitsu fullset character dolls will come with an additional hairless cap that can be put on the doll so she can wear wigs. I think obitsu sells the hairless caps too but I’m not sure. If the doll has painted eyes the head will be all one piece with hair rooted into the scalp.

Uhh just wanted to add I’m talking about 1/6 -1/12 if you’re getting a 1/4 size doll and the eyes are inset then the doll will come with a hairless head cap with a wig, if the 1/4 has painted eyes it will sometimes be rooted but not always. I know a lot of Azone character dolls with painted eyes that are not rooted but come with a wig. Hope this helps.

But isn't this issue caused by the thinness of the vinyl and the light traveling through it and taking a reddish hue and then hitting/ entering the acrilic eyes' domed surface (sorry if this sounds so convoluted)? Maybe using paperweight low dome glass eyes might reduce the problem (acrylic eyes have a transparent dome and the iris and pupil are printed on a piece of paper that is placed behind the dome). Generally using eyes that do not have such a high dome, eyes that have the iris "on top" of an opaque sclera or eyes that have a clear dome that doesn't cover an opaque sclera might be a solution, if my theory is correct. Maybe you could try to block the light from going through the vinyl into the eyes somehow?
I found a German website that sells miniature handmade glass eyes without dome (they're called figure eyes).

Im very new to the hobby, what type of Dollfie Dream head/face is this? At the beginning I only liked MDD anime style face/head but now I really like that type of face too

Can any type of Dollfie body have any type of Dollfie head or not? Like can a MDD have this face too or it would look weird??

>Like can a MDD have this face too or it would look weird
faceup has a huge impact on how a sculpt looks, and (hair) framing has a huge impact on how a faceup looks
so yes, but it may take a bit of experimentation to figure out what "works" for you
as for what particular sculpts these are uhhhh someone else will have to help you with that

That one is most likely DD Luka Megurine. She was a limited release because she is based off of a character, so she can be difficult and expensive to obtain. I'm unsure about the first one, but the third image is possibly a custom DDH-03. The heads might look a little strange on an MDD body, but you might like them. Don't be afraid to experiment!

Sorry guys I think I didn't make myself clear, what I'm saying is that, I know there are like certain types of heads that Volks makes for Dollfie Dream but like, each of them is thought to be for certain type of Dollfie Doll? Despite the fact that you can use them in the entire line, are they made in mind with DDS-head DD-head, like that?

As someone that just dropped 60k on doll clothes, can confirm.

The only real distinction is between the 1/4 and 1/3 sculpts. If it's for the 1/3 bodies (DDS, DD, DDDY) they have deeper recesses for the neck at the bottom of the head. Say you get a custom DDH09, it'll look proportional to any of the 1/3 bodies. Is this more in line with what you're asking?

>DDH09
Yes yes yes, that's exactly what I was asking.
Now I have to dive deeper into the numeration and which one is for what type but I wanted to make sure of that. thank youu

That skirt looks so comfy. I want to go to a doll convention to get some clothes my daughter deserves but have been too shy to so far and resort to online or in store purchases.

The USD/JPY has been sitting nice and pretty so now is a pretty good time to get in on those doll clothing imports.

This may be something already done/brought up but I pop in and out of /jp/ only a handful of times a year. Has anyone made a /jp/ dolls calendar project? Could have each month be open to be claimed by an anon who provides a photo and info about their doll they want to share etc. Could be made as a printable pdf for 2023 etc.
