Would the inevitable Kappa and Tengu revolution improve Gensokyo.
Would it reach a GDP similiar to that of a country outside the border, able to compete with real world markets with its export of "magical artifacts"?

There's effectively no contact between the outside world and Gensokyo (barring a few unfortunate outsiders - all buried at Muendzuka, and Yukari's occasional trips).
A technological revolution could encourage trade, but I doubt Reimu and Yukari would allow something like that to risk the stability of the region.
Yukari must hate the Moriyas, don't you think?

>> No.3903842

The Tengu have no clue what's going on.
And Kappa technology is nonsensical at best. It'd never work in the real world.

Did Yukari let in Kanako and the Moreya crew, or did they just sneak in under their last remnants of godly powers?

If they can use the power they get from the nuke scheme to generate faith, they might be able to breach the barrier again.

For example, if Yukari is caught napping...

Cameras? Clocks? Telephones? Scanner? Printer?

Kappa technology is largely pulled from the real world in the first place.

I'm leaning towards the latter. And once it happened, Yukari permitted it since they weren't a threat. But if they try something like breaching the border from the inside, it'll probably mean war.

>>3903887
I don't think it's a problem, as long as the newcomers behave.
Gensokyo is a land of immigrants, after all.

I don't think magic works in the real world very well

Hence my use of the term "magical artifacts", besides if Kappa and Tengu revolution goes well enough Yukari's powers may not be needed to breach the border.

After all, there are a great deal more Kappa and Tengu than all the named Youkai (and humans) combined.

But the tengu in Stage 4 MoF went down like so much cordwood before a wood chipper. Considering the IN teams relative strength most of the named youkai could take down stupid numbers of unnamed tengu or kappa.

Tourism would be the big problem. And someone would realize that they can make enormous amounts of money by granting people access to the border from the outside. Not to mention all the other ways of making money from a genuine fantasy world. If the insiders put a stop to it, the economic inertia would lead directly to war. There's no way that open contact doesn't turn into a bad end.

There's almost no reason for Kappa and Tengu to bother trading with the outside world.

They already freeload off the stuff that falls through the border.

They're the most technologically advanced society in Gensokyo that has been introduced.

No one gives a shit that the humans are living in the feudal ages. Not even the humans.

Money is like, whatever, man.

Everything is peaceful as shit.

Outside humans are assholes. They're the reason youkai needed Gensokyo in the first place.

The closed utopia of Gensokyo is not some virgin land to be raped by the hands of greedy outsiders, it must be gently coaxed open with loving feelings and gentle caresses.

What happens when fifty thousand people gather outside and protest the government for not being transparent about such an incredible and possibly dangerous place? And when they get violent and rush the gates?

Considering the 'gates' is likely the Hakurei Shrine, it's pretty narrow.
Even a third world power could hold something as small as that, either a couple of heavy machingun emplacements (danmaku firing for nonleathality?) or even a magical barrier/giant plank (onabashira?) in the way would stop it.
Most countries aren't bounded by a magical force-field.

>> No.3904125

It's not like it'll be difficult to avoid. If Yukari really does go to the outside world, it won't take much for her to realize, "OH SHIT I had better do something about this!"

Then all is well again.
