As a matter of fact, I'm a habitual shmup player, with several Cave and Psikyo titles amongst my favorites so I'm not exactly your average novice with no knowledge of the matter pulling things out of my ass.
Yeah, I know of Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Under Defeat and the like, and for one acknowledge their respective improvements to the genre, who doesn't anyways? What I can't ignore, however, is that shmups have inevitably come to a dead end once again and they're practically living off doujin soft releases. And Touhou is the next big thing to come.
