When I pick up a game like IN there's nothing to 'do'. There's no supernatural border to work with, no handpicking your UFO tokens to summon what you want, no abusing bombs to have fun with the graze meter. The scoring system, the time system, doesn't really mesh well into a regular playthrough. The bullet cancellation part with slaves don't require that much planning because the slave fairies with their bullet swarms are pretty much in your face.

Because of this I feel there's little variety and freedom especially for stages four and five. Compared to PCB it also feels there are fewer attacks making you utilize a larger area of the screen.

The game is too easy compared to the others in general and it's a terrible game to start with because you will never develop a good deathbomb reflex

The deathbomb window in IN with border team is so huge you can actuallypull off deathbombing easily without even noticing that a bullet was on its way to hit you.
This means you can actually *react* to getting hit whereas in the other games it's more of a proactive thing when you see a bullet getting dangerously close with no way to dodge it.

Even the normal deathbomb in touhou is bad practice. It doesn't appear in a lot of other STGs, and some of them even have frame delays on bombs coming out.
