I'm pretty sure all the waifufags and shipperfags will just say their specific waifu's design goes best with Shirou's precisely because they like her the best even if "objectively" they would disagree. I know as a Rinfag I think Rin goes best with Shirou, though I will specify that the designs Ufo gave him with the track suit and his adult design go better with Rin's than his OG one Takeuchi gave him. For one, there's a nice inversion in the case of their 17 year old versions of colours where Shirou's red hair contrasts with Rin's dark hair and Rin's red clothes contrast with Shirou's black and white jacket. In the case of the adult versions there's some themeing going on as Shirou's green being the opposite on the colour wheel of Rin's red reflects how the two have a bit of a Yin-Yang thing going on.

I guess you can argue Saber suits his OG design best though.

I have been thinking lately how different would be current type moon if fgo didn't exist, and honestly I don't think it would have been much different considering there have always been early indications of Nasu wanting to add these power creeps since the introduction of Extraverse. Did you forget the old lore? Of course Nasu could have retconned all of it in theory, but anyways we know that Altrouge once lost to Roa so she could easily have a grudge over it or something. Additionally, Altrouge also stole Arc's hair at one point. In the remake during ritual in France, Arcueid has long hair. We know she doesn't wake up again until the events of Tsukihime (where she has short hair), so presumably whatever exactly went down during the Arc and Ciel/Roa fight was when she lost it. Add in the fact there was an outsider/interrupter to the ritual, I'd bet that person would be Altrouge. It fits everything we know so far.

Honestly I don't think I really buy this Nasu is a woman stuff but I do think it is rather weird how often a lot of tropes that women tend to use and like find themselves in his works.

Use the original ISO, but also use onscripter instead of trying to run the .exe directly. The reason is because the game uses CDDA audio which has issues on anything later than XP (i.e. the BGM won't loop). There's other ways to work around this, but onscripter is the easiest. Finished the first volume having not watched the anime. This was both better and worse than expected. For an early work written even before Tsukihime this does a lot of things really well, but as a novel it was pretty messy. The first part was more like a self-contained story, so a character like Kirie Fujo then just disappears, while the second part focuses on Shiki and the murders, and then in the third part Nasu decides to introduce Fujino and makes her the center of the story? Seems kinda weak as a structure for a novel. Also switching between five characters' perspectives while also suddenly switching to third person narration at points plus the non-chronological sequence gave the whole thing a fractured, messy feel. Basically there is no real main character and there is no center in the story, lol. Characters are pretty good, Shiki is an interesting heroine, though in this volume at least mostly kinda angry and growling at the mc, Mikiya seems like an almost entirely boring protagonist, did I miss anything? Compared to Shirou or Toono Shiki he's something of a non-entity who doesn't really do or say much of any interest, I would assume or hope this will change in the following volumes. Will probably finish the series at some point even after not really getting that hooked reading the first book.

I'm currently reading it too after having rewatched all of the movies and I really like it so far. I'm reading the Baka Tsuki translation and the current ongoing on on Beast's Lair and it's pretty good so far, I like all the internal monolgues that weren't in the movies. I also skimmed through the manga (which is still ongoing) and it looks like a good adaptation too, it had some scenes that were in the novel but not in the movies. I really recommend watching the movies though, they're great.
