Im no expert but one tip i can give is these lines, thinking of the arm this way makes it easier to draw. The line between shoulder/elbow should be slightly longer than elbow/hand. As for the hands the best advice is to look at your own hand while making sure you dont mix them up

Today's drawing is Wriggle. I feel better about this one more than yesterdays, but I had some difficulty with her shoulder area, as well as trying to figure out how to shade/draw the wrinkles of her shirt. I like how the face came out and I think her proportions are decent. Please enjoy this bug!

Hi, anon. I do the same, and have been drawing a 2hu daily since December of 2020. You've already started at a better level than I did, so you can definitely get somewhere great if you keep at it. The consistency was what I found to be the most important, as well as learning how to critique yourself properly (this'll be very important if you're self-taught)
I see that wriggle picture you drew said Copy on it. I'm not sure if it's just the image file being duplicated or if it's a copy of another picture, but for a pretty long time when I was starting out I would just find a picture I liked and copy it into my sketchbook. It helped a lot, since it stopped me from getting discouraged by what I'd ended up with since I had the original right in front of me. It also helped a lot with learning basic drawing fundamentals.
Keep at it, and don't ever get discouraged.

The 'copy' is just a copy of the original since I took it on my phone and duplicated the image after I rotated it. But thanks for the encouragement. I'm trying not to trace any references 1:1, so all of these drawings have been 'original' so far, but I might do some tracing exercises on the side. Do you have pics of where you're at with your art now? I'm interested in seeing how you've improved!

also my advice is draw a complete skeleton structure of the touhou first. you can even scribble it very roughly to just get the overall shape if you can imagine it, and the draw over it with details. obviously easier to do digitally but you could get some see through paper for example. also a good way to practice is copy a lot of art you see. it can help long term to make the connection of what everything should look like.

on the copy you've messed up a lot of distances between things, so her calves are too short and you've make the point where her back twists too low to match where her chest twists. You're also not curving a lot of the lines enough, so her butt looks kind of hank hill tier
as for the parsee, it's pretty much those same issues but even more exacerbated because you're drawing from your memory of the reference which you hadn't got quite right in the first place

In addition to what other anons pointed out Parsee's neck is very short and wide and the arm doesn't seem to connect to the shoulder properly. The reference copy is a good attempt though. Also use softer lines inside the contours.

I wanted to make it look like she was spinning from the side so I was going for the skirt flair up and just ended up copying the hand because I couldn't figure out how to do the angle. I think I messed up the hair a bit. Might be because of the effort I tried to put on the dress frills but I havent felt this good about something I've drawn in a long time.

Knowing what details you should include or exclude at different scales is important. It's the same sort of reasoning for why people say that you need to learn to draw realism before you can manipulate it into anime styles

I am not, not yet at least. I'm going to do draw a box and read some basic drawing literature, but I haven't found the time to sit down and dedicate a portion of my day to learning just yet. I'm taking small steps, I'm not in a huge rush! But doing fundamentals for an hour or so and then moving to the character drawing is the ideal path forward.

To be fair, getting gud takes a lot of practice. I never picked up a pencil or even thought about attempting to draw before starting this thread, so I am probably middle school level, all things considered. If I keep at it I'll eventually work things out.

yeah it does, Im the one who did the quick patchie and the other lewd thicc sketches. I'd only been drawing digitaling for 2 years now, I started drawin traitional ever since middle school. One thing I'll advise you is to do drawabox but dont do only that, draw for fun. and also simplify the body down into most basic form first before you put any detail on it

/ic/begnewfag here, my only advice 2 pple here is to never compare yourself to others and just enjoy/study their art. don't look at their age at when they started at cause that will make you sad and if you wanna draw full characters go start with fundementals, figure and then anatomy at prokopenkos channel 4 free :D

NEVER go to /ic/ unless you are mentally prepared to block out all the cope and bitchless behaviour that lies within there, if you do that you can search for some great advice once you ignore all the rest :D
