the "flandre was locked in the basement for several hundred years" thing is one of those bits of fanon where it completely falls apart the moment you think about it for the exact reasons Flan brings up in CDS: she can destroy anything, if she wanted to get out she'd have gotten out a long time ago

I don't think this is very accurate though. Most Touhou doujins have Flandre relatively free to go out and interact with people post Scarlet Mist incident and many even have Remilia actively encouraging it.
Most portrayals of her confinement don't even have her physically "locked in" but involve the mansion residents or humans just playing with her when she gets too pent up/lonely and causes trouble which is accurate.
Kaguya is usually portrayed as holed up in Eientei most of time like in canon but also she goes out and about mostly to mess with/hang out with Mokou which is pretty accurate. Ultra NEET portrayals are usually just played for laughs.
I think ZUN has mostly stuck to the spirit of the fandoms portrayals who in turn mostly expanded on ZUN's original character outline. It's only extreme parody/annngst portrayal that are getting dunked on, but those were never accurate.
The one thing I think the fandom often most portrays wrong is how aloof and judgmental to each other the characters are. Everyone is always putting each other down in canon to bolster their own self esteem. Rare is the portrayal of genuine affection that it makes it surprising when it does happen like Mokou and Kaguya hanging out in secret.

Nice of ZUN to confirm Kaguya goes out on dates with Mokou, and that Mokou can come and go into Eientei whenever she pleases because Kaguya allows her to and probably has for a while without anyone else knowing. Together with the fact that they do indeed miss each other when they're away for too long paints a nice picture.

ZUN has made it known that he doesn't intend to introduce romantic relationships into touhou anytime soon. As it would take the series into a pathway he wouldn't be comfortable with.

It was fairly obvious on mokou's side with the CiLR chapter being about 80% 'Kaguya literally consumes my thoughts' but it's been a bit more ambiguous as to what Kaguya thought about Mokou
These FDS chapters have been the first time we've gotten a good idea, since they've shown that Kaguya:
-knows when Mokou enters Eientei
-has shown Mokou the layout of Eientei, or at least let her learn it all without using her ability to block her
-specifically lets her enter without throwing her into a labyrinth
-sneaks out of Eientei behind everyone's back
-sneaks to the human village (WITH Mokou!)
