With all the talk about this or that canon outcome and certain future and so-on, I feel like people are forgetting one of the main points established towards the end of Higurashi: all conceivable futures are merely alternate fragments, equally valid. Hanyuu even says something to the effect of her having every fragment you could possibly think of.
The new Rei manga, the future stuff in Gou, it's all just sets of things that could happen in the particular fragment that you're looking at through that media.

Everyone goes with it and escape from the school grounds.

Irie starts talking about how Hinamizawa has no future, but he is curious about Kazuho's mysterious future power. Maybe it's the result of 10 more years of HS evolution. And what will happen if future HS and the current one are mixed together? He lost his research in the battle the other day, Hinamizawa has no future and soon "they" would cover everything. If he is going to die, he wants to see the culmination of his research at the end of his life, yes, like Takano.

Kazuho escaped, but when she got to the waiting room, Keiichi, Satoko, Shion and Mion all looked crazy.

She promised she'd stop Keiichi if he went crazy again.

Epilogue in 2003. Actually, the story started with Miyuki sending a letter to her friend Chisame, where she tells her that it might sound odd but she really remembers traveling back to 1983, it isn't just a story.

Anyway, getting to the actual epilogue, Miyuki call Nao in 2003, lamenting how the memorial service for the Hinamizawa disaster will end soon. They talk about Nao's mature appearance and job hunting, while Nao teases Miyuki about ending up as a librarian rather than a policewoman like she often talked about. Miyuki talks about how it was thanks to Chisame and her mother. Nao teases Miyuki about how since she's a librarian, her book will turn out great, but Miyuki says those matters are completely unrelated.

Miyuki is writing a book using her experiences as the model, although she's changing the names to avoid issues for anyone still living. She's hesitating a bit due to Irie though, since he was the only doctor in the village, so changing his name wouldn't help anything. She held a grudge upon him, but while researching his past started sympathizing.

No one aside from Miyuki and Nao remember there was ever someone called Kazuho though, which is one of the main reasons Miyuki wants to write down that story.

Miyuki became a librarian because it gave her easier access to material about the past. She laments not being someone who protects the future, but Nao says she's the same. Then it ends with whole

This story really feels like it was originally written to be an ending if Mei had completely bombed and gotten quickly cancelled.

Maybe it was just a discarded concept for the end of Part 1, repurposed for an anniversary event. Dark Awakening Kazuho's story continues the event from Kazuho's point of view. She dies crawling to the shrine then wakes up in another world, seeing those events as a dream, which she tells Miyuki and Nao. Kazuho now wants to avoid the clinic even though she knows she's being unfair. Miyuki talks about how she only left her father behind because she'd protect Nao, otherwise she'd have stayed.

Keiichi wakes up in his home and is happy his parents are safe, after all, they're in Okinomiya, not Hinamizawa. However, after talking normally for a while, they look at him with expressionless faces. But then the events actually happen, following chapter 1 and the event story. Keiichi has fun killing, saying it's like a club game, but starts regretting when confronting Kazuho, who says she has no fun at all. He wakes up again and this time consults with Irie, who hears the story and silently denies he'd ever do something like that.

The Mei trio is staying at the Furude's old house. Mion wants Kazuho and Nao to befriend the other kids rather than just staying in their trio. Anyway, the events end up leading to the event again. Rena has fun fighting with Keiichi. Later wakes up and leaves the clinic with everybody dead, her thoughts recovering for a moment as she worried about Nao. Rena wakes up. She's the only survivor of the Hinamizawa disaster, where the village was apparently killed by volcanic gas. She was found in the shrine by the defense forces afterwards. She asks about Nao, but no one with a matching description was found. Rena decides to find the truth. And meet her sister again.

However, she gasps as someone appears in front of her. "Why are you here?" Rena died December 1 from a high fever, shouting "Oyashiro-sama" over and over again.

He told Satoko that he had no choice and that if I wanted to be able to support our family I had to remain a politician, Satoko refused to accept this telling Keiichi he doesn't have to be a politican and that we could still just be happy working a regular job!

Keiichi then told her that if he did that he wouldn't be able to support his son and the woman carrying him. Satoko was completely and utterly heartbroken by Keiichi betrayal and choice but...She still loved him. She still loved the man that went through countless fragments just to save her...So she agreed. They came to the plan that Satoko would "marry" one of Keiichi old politican friends so that his daughter would have a strong male role model in her life. Keiichi would return to tokoyo for good in order to make it big and to achive his dream. Keiichi and the woman shared no love for each other but agreed to raise their son with the utmost love. Keiichi did all of this for the greater good of his family...Right?

Fast forward to the present setting of the Reiwa manga, Keitarou has no idea that Sakiko is his half sister or that his mom was just some bitch his dad slept with. He rarely sees his dad since Keiichi is busy living his dream, And yet Keitarou looks up to him as what all men should strive to be. Since the Reiwa manga is still ongoing I won't be able to predict all of the mishaps that will happen but I will be able to predict the ending.

Keitarou falls in love with Inori, The one girl who didn't offer to be his friend, The one girl who stole his heart. Keitarou will try time and time again to save her from her death, And try his best to stop the cul of Polaris from enacting their plans to murder the village and to stop the village from murdering the cult...But it will all be for naught. In every fragment that he tries he will realize that is is hopeless to stop them and that he will continue to die every time he attempts to stop it. Inori and Keitarou will finally confess their love for one another while the entire village burns, Keitarou will be heartbroken realizing that no matter what he does even if he takes Inori away from the village she will die declares to her that he WILL save Inori before he finally succumbs to his blood loss while holding her hand. Keitarou knows somewhere deep in his heart that he will only have one more shot to save everyone or else it's all over... Keitarou will eventually find out the truth of his half-sister in the last fragment after failing to stop the war again. EVERYONE goes batshit insane and wraps up/ reveals some of the biggest mysteries so far. Satoko goes L5 and blames Keitarou for taking away Keiichi from her. She tells Keitarou EVERYTHING before he's saved by Keiichi! With most of the village dead and the fighting still continuing Keiichi finally reveals the truth to Keitarou and Sakiko. Keitarou also tells Keiichi about all the loops he's been experiencing and tells him to go find his old friend Rika who's currently in a hospital. Keiichi tells his son to take Inori and Sakiko and get the hospital as soon as possible, And tells Keitaoru that he will be staying with the dying Satoko in her final moments. Keitarou rejects this idea but Keiichi finallys admits to himself that he never left Satoko just so he could make enough money to support them both, He did it because he wanted to live his dream. Keiichi says that he regretted that decision every single day and that he wished he stayed with Satoko, Keiichi asks Keitarou if he loves Inori and when Keitarou says yes he says to never let that love die out.

With most of the cast dead by this point Keitarou, Inori, And Sakiko make it to the hospital where Rika is staying at. Rika informs Keitarou that the beads are all gone and that there is no do-over. Keitarou refusing to believe this prays for something someone to give him one more chance a way to fix this! Then...When he opens his hand he finds it...One more bead! He hears a woman's voice telling him that this is it his finally chance, He can use this bead to go back to any time where he was alive... He knows what has to be done...
