Assassin is one of the seven normal Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. The Archer of Fate/Stay Night is an egregious exception to the norm. Even Gilgamesh is more Archerlike than Archer.

Archer is considered one of the truly unique heroes, especially since he's a Counter Guardian. Like Shirou, his real ability is his Reality Marble and the skills he can pull out of it. I suppose that he counts as an Archer since he can use a bow, but he doesn't really use it for anything but firing Broken Phantasms, and it's fairly weak by itself.
