Yeah singing was never her strength to say the least. Her higher register is worse than her lower one as well, and that's usually what she's expected to sing in.

As for her looks, I think she was pretty, and even more so now. But she's not photogenic, if that makes sense. At least 75% of her photos are bad, and she always looks better in motion/on video. But to each their own.

As for why she didn't go full idol seiyuu, I think she did. She had music videos, handshake events, was in idol groups. She had a solo career. She had concerts (albeit small ones), and a fan club with fan events. She never did a photo book though, which was for the best, of course.

Totally agree. Which is another reason why she never fit the idol image. They kept trying to dress her in Lolita style outfits that didn’t suit her looks at all. So many seiyuu/idols try and look childish forever. But Nakahara looked like a grown woman in her twenties. So when she finally left that idol look behind, and embraced a more adult/modern look, it suited her so much more, which is another reason she looks better now.

Well I mean if you look at a lot of younger seiyuus nowadays (People like Tenchan, Ishikawa, wtc.) they do not look their age, they look nearly 5 years older.
