>> No.38581886

How the FUCK do you get MFCs in DDR? No matter how hard I try, no matter how low I go with the difficulty, I can never get away without picking up at least one or two perfects. I keep seeing people MFCing 13s and 14s and I just have no fucking clue how they do it. The amount of flags and SDPs I have on just about every difficulty up to 14s is ridiculous. Maybe I'm just terrible at this game.

>> No.38582400

>>38581886

Its a mathematical limitation that the probability of getting an MFC will never be higher than 1/e^(your avg perfect count), with the probability being lower if a certain part of the song gives you trouble more than others and a lower notecount being worse. So if you average 3 perfects on a song and play it perfectly consistently, it should still take you more than 20 plays of that song alone to PFC. So SDPs aren't really close. Flags could be - depends on how consistently you can flag.

Obviously of course mentality comes into it - both in terms of the accuracy itself and the mentality needed to keep getting close. Something you'd have to find and overcome.

Personally, I have some, but I also avoid chasing them. If I expect to get better, then I would expect MFCing something to get easier over time. Getting an MFC itself provides very little in way of improving one's ddr skill and pretty much always involves the most incremental of improvements (1-2p, at best). So don't worry too much about it - think of it in the same mentality you have about remaining a virgin - its something you can learn to accept if it doesn't happen.

Agreed.
The first time went to an arcade I couldn't believe others could stand all the cacophony, yet alone appreciate the music while playing it. I thought it was just a Round 1 thing for awhile, but the only place I've found with lower volume was in an open space in the middle of an underground mall in Taipei, probably because they were forced to.

Depends on the volume control of the device, but something that's closed ear, has good dynamics with manual physical sound dampening (instead of automatically adjusting like Bose), and doesn't require too much amp power should do just fine. I use ATH-M50s, but there is almost certainly better these days.

Official Konasute/AC data or simulators?
BMS can be played natively with Beatoraja with Java. Official binaries blocks IIDX/Pop'n converts by default but you can easily remove this limitation if you build the binaries yourself.
Stepmania runs natively and is better than official data/DDR GP. Easy to build and be found in most distros/AUR.
Unnamed SDVX clone runs natively.
Easy to build and can also be found in AUR.
Konasute is as far as I know untested and people who play data typically runs it it in Windows either natively or in a VM.

How much do these cabinets cost again? I know DDR is somewhere in the 10k+ range but for how much these machines cost you would think they would have more advertising for their cards.

Like you can barely even play some of these games without a card and I think I have only seen one sign saying to buy a card at the counter, and that was on the dirty ass SDVX machine at my local Round1

Yeah it's dumb. I think it's a combo of the rhythm game autistics already knowing how to do the card stuff and where to get it, combined with the interface not being the most normie friendly thing so it would be a headache to have to help everytime someone gets stuck entering their name or something stupid like that resulting with it just being pushed into the corner of if you know you know kinda stuff.

Jubeat was never going to happen due to licensing. Same reason we didn't get online pop'n. Same reason the offline Chunithm cabinets are going to have zero licenses on them when they get here.

Museca and DRS were more or less concurrent releases.
While Museca was a pile of shit at launch 1+1/2 fixed more or less everything wrong with the game. Unfortunately that was too late and the game died a horrible death because of that.
DRS is completely fine outside of weird stage maintenance issues and the unlock system being prohibitively expensive since we're gimped without access to extra stage.

Rhythm games at Round1 make very little money in comparison to the rest of the store.
Things like DDR and Pump will make money on the basis of them being dance games and familiar. DrumMania because people wanna bang on drums.

Hardcore rhythm game player bases account for a very small part of store revenues.
But also your Round1 might just have people who don't particularly care, or just assume anyone seriously playing the games already knows they need a card.
My local stores have almost always had card signs on all the network games saying what card you need and that they sell them at the counter.

How are you in other games?
You can indirectly improve in ProSe by improving your general rhythm game skills in any other rhythm game. I came to ProSe after playing Cytus2/Cytoid/Arcaea for a bit over a year and I could clear most songs at master easily despite the layout difference.
If you’re past that stage of course there’s no answer other than practice. If you’re too lazy to repeat entire songs then I’d recommend something with a custom track creator to practice certain patterns (I personally have used Cytoid to practice trills) or you could record a vid of the portion and play along with it as much as you want.

ProSe’s flicks are quite lenient so I just use my hands the same way I do on Cytoid/Cytus (more of a diagonal movement on flick/swipe notes). The hold releases were slightly annoying at first but I got used to it soon enough. Bandori on the other hand was far more annoying in both aspects, especially the flicks which aren’t as lenient with diagonal movements and are more sensitive to vertical ones; I have mastered neither flicks nor hold notes in Bandori because of how big the difference was compared to all the others I play.

That must be why Round1 stores in Japan are getting rid of lots of their rhythm games and are just crammed full of cranes now. Or why Konami and now Namco are pushing subscription based home versions of their games.
Part of that expansion is them just dumping their old offline Chunithm cabinets into all the US stores.

Konami has revenue sharing on all of their e-amusement games.
Other manufacturers also have revenue sharing. This is why updates are able to just be pushed out over the network unless there's a major hardware revision. You used to have to purchase actual upgrade kits. They're getting their money either way.
