with whoo's "retirement", a lot of producers changing their genre, lack of new songs and producers, those that have retired long ago and those that returned but gained little to no traction; can we finally say that the more niche subgenres of vocaloid rock is finally dead? Shoegaze, post rock, math rock, you name it. to be fair, they never reached the mainstream to begin with, but I'd never expect these genres to be this dead after all these years.

Well now you can, I compiled most of what I have here. Note that Inumaru Shibaigoya's a group of 4 and she (Marui) and her sister/friend (Inumaru) take turns composing and drawing. It's a really impressive engine. I keep thinking "yeah, dreamtonics can't improve it" and then they do.
I do believe this kind of engine isn't suited for some styles of music. It doesn't do staccato, high-energy songs the same way vocaloid or utau do. The voices are ironically too hyperrealistic to execute melodies designed for nonhumans.
I dislike it when people act like SynthV is a straight upgrade from vocaloid/utau or that every voicebank should be on the "best" engine going forwards. It's a sidegrade. They're different. A SynthV will sound more dynamic singing a ballad and a vocaloid will have a more crisp impact singing tight melodies.
Most of my favorite vocaloid songs benefit from the simplified voice, so while I appreciate Dreamtonic's extremely impressive work, I still prefer "inferior" engines. Watch them implement a Stylized Voice Mode that sounds like vocaloid and blow me out of the water.

I'm sorry for bringing this up over and over again but for me miku expo and magical mirai setlist have always been the primary example of the gap between the two. magical mirai setlist feels like a celebration of vocaloid music as a whole, yes they do share a lot of songs with miku expo setlist but they also like to perform not so popular songs just for the sake of it, and it's awesome. miku expo in the other hand feels like a playlist made by someone that just got into vocaloid. there's nothing interesting in their setlist, I'm tired from listening to the same shit every fucking year.

The thing about the merch is, you need to vote with your wallet. If you don't like it, don't buy it and hopefully enough people will feel the same that they'll get the message. The concert posters posted above were widely criticized by fans of all stripes; sure some people bought them but I really doubt that Crypton (internally) looks at it as a success. Plus, Crypton really loves to do surveys; that's a good place to voice your issues.

As for the setlists, I think that with Expo they feel like they need to do a sort of 'greatest hits' show. They don't do Expo as much, they change the cities when they do, and so maybe they feel like they need to do only the top songs; this might be someone's only chance to see a Miku show so why take a risk? sort of thinking. Whereas Mirai is every year so if a song doesn't hit as much as expected it's no big deal.

The second one was actually official concert posters for Miku Expo back in 2016. They weren't done by western tumblr/weeaboo artists, though; they hired professional concert poster artists local to each show. The problem is, the artists had no idea what they were doing and so they just did whatever they'd normally do, but put "Miku" in it. Part of the problem was the request: concert posters don't typically include an image of the artist, but here that was a requirement and they didn't know how to do that in the right style. It was an idea that sounded good but just did not work in practice.

been a fan of his stuff back when he was still active in niconico, he was never really that popular but he was definitely not an 80 views producer back in the days. ambient and post rock is my favorite genre and it's quite underrepresented in the vocaloid scene, and the stuff that he produced is exactly what i want to hear, he just got back from 6 years of disappearance but it seems like he has disappeared yet again.
as for how to find obscure songs, somehow i found youtube to be easier than niconico for it, just keep listening to vocaloid songs with low view numbers and youtube will keep recommending you more. niconico is easier if you know the tags that you wanna use though.

welcome! it seems like kyaami is focused on making covers instead of making her own songs, so giving a recommendation based on that info would be tough.
the song that you linked is originally produced by buzzG, so you might enjoy his other songs. others producers that has similar style that comes to mind is 40mP, 164, baker, some ryo songs, and Orangestar, kinda. for producer that has similar style to wonderful opportunity, to be honest i have no idea. GYARI maybe? you can also check vocaloid denpa, there should be a couple of playlist of them on YouTube.

do you want a complete NAS setup for your home or you just want to stream your media? the easiest way to stream media is to just use foobar or plex. for music, foobar is the way to go. there should be tutorials out there that should get you up to speed and you can use the foobar mobile player to access it, foobar is only for windows but if you're on linux, chances are you already know what you're doing. plex is more handy if you also want to stream movies, but i don't like their user interface. a NAS setup should be better in the long term and it's really handy, but the setup process is more involved.
to be honest, it's probably doesn't worth the hassle if you just want to use it for music, just get a big ass SD card (assuming that your phone support it) and you should be good to go, they're cheap too.

i drive an old car so i don't have bluetooth, otherwise i'd just use my plex server to play music from my home collection in my car.

i have a very heavily customized copy of a foobar skin called fooayian. i changed the dark theme to white, and balanced all of the elements. it could be better but i'm quite used to how it is. i don't use this many tagging columns normally, by the way, only when i'm reviewing new albums. some are custom. left to right are, queue index, skip tag, disc number, rating, track no., parent directory name, filename, composer, album artist, artist, title, album, comment, length, genre, year, bitrate, extension, times played (dependent on metadata, so this entry disappears from my database often, unfortunately.), and last played (if this tag is present, it shows a check mark instead of the last time played)

plex is easy to set up but if you have a lot of media, it's going to cram its cache folder on your system partition and there's no option to move it. you have to registry hack it to get it onto another drive. i've probably got around 2-3TB of media in it, and the cache folder size is 69GB. it also runs its scan nightly which is a little annoying but you can change when it's scheduled to do that.

it looks great if you already use foobar. i bound an automatic playlist to fill itself with my favorite songs, and the playback capture looks like a nice feature as well. only downside is your PC has to be online for it to work (how else are you gonna stream your files dummy) and there's no browser support for this, so it's not like you're hosting your own local spotify or anything..

i still don't know of any foobar-based UPnP plugins that allow browser playback like on a PC, but i assume nothing stops you from installing an android emulator on a PC and doing this on there? just have to make a tunnel out to WAN i assume.

you can still get used ipods on ebay. common issues on classics are they won't charge (replace battery) or storage is dead/dying (replace HDD.) these are fairly cheap and easy fixes to do yourself. fair warning other most common issue is water damage. there's usually dye marks inside of them and if you see blue ink everywhere, that means the PCB been submerged in water and it's probably not an ipod worth fixing, unless you're willing to isolate the issue with a schematic and know how to solder.

what people usually do is shuck the old 1.8" HDDs out of a working ipod, insert a new storage controller and plug a high capacity SSD into it. you can also flash over the factory firmware with rockbox. i've never done any of this myself yet btw so do your research on a portable device, it's still doable.
