How should I build Alchemist <Naplus>? On her default AI, she only throws potions and casts lightning bolt and magic dart and heal critical, and does not do any melee or ranged attacks. Should I give her a bunch of utility and damage spells using AP points, or should I give her custom AI that lets her use weapons? I've got a bunch of weapons with cool effects that aren't being used because managing too many pets is kind annoying
I know technically Young Lady / Miss Vampire is technically a better potion thrower because she has more spells and cure bleed and her default AI is already melee-spec and thus easier to configure, but (ero)Naplus's sprite and pic is cuter.

Naplus looks like she should focus on support spells since she never uses weapons unless you use custom AI.
Just give her all the buff and debuff actions and the ball spells using AP, so you can free up actions for other pets to concentrate more on DPS.

Try flipping the "preserve entity as target" setting for the healing actions. That works at least half the time. If it doesn't do anything, then try this for the healing code to make sure that range isn't a problem:

Does anyone else get bloodshot eyes after a few hours of playing Elona? I'm on a 1440p screen at 720p game resolution with 2x integer scaling so sprites and text are both big enough to see comfortably and shouldn't pose issues. Brightness is also set pretty low. It's a complete mystery.

2.09 is out and CGX has already merged the changes.
I don't feel like translating all the changes but here is the gist of it.
・New guard break meter which drops DV/PV to 0 when maxed out.
・Resting now also heals all NPCs on the map.
・Armor skills will continue to improve defense after 300 but the effect is quartered.
・New giants, metals, and skills.
・Changes to some skills and feats.
・Penetration from enchantments is now capped at 30%.
・Slaves no longer come with items.
・Dojo's prices and effects were adjusted and it should be a bit more effective.
・Wilderness maps can generate rivers.

Is the mobile version worth it? Or is it just a branch some ancient version with better graphics

I figured out a different way to do it though. First, I'll remove all the extra limbs I added during gene engineer, using scientist iscolle, and then I'll add a limb using Doctor <Gavela> (because that one works at reducing life for some reason), and then I'll genetically engineer the other limbs back on

definitely, a player isn't just battling in the game, they're battling *with* it, and it should be possible to win. At the same time it shouldn't be too easy or too esoteric, there needs to be a "proper" way to play the game for the player to try and reject, and a new player should be able to pick up the game and have some idea of how to get into it
this is one of the problems I had with omake when i tried to get into it (that and not knowing which version was the correct one or how to install it), you've still got the painfully slow vanilla curve and it feels like the only "correct" way to play *is* to break it, at which point, is it even special anymore?

as a kid I loved adventurequest, but it became obsessed with balance to the point where practically every setup had the exact same dps, took the same amount of turns to beat fights, and there wasn't any way to do anything cool anymore, mechanics like healing spells that let players do crazy stuff all got ruined, all on a game that's entirely singleplayer.

There's a nice middleground to this stuff
Binding of isaac was another game I used to like that was very easy to break, which is fun at first but not so much when you can do it effortlessly every run. Repentance came out and nerfed all the ways to break it while buffing the ways to play it properly, and the end result was a much better game. While it was still possible (and intended) to be able to break the game, you needed to have a much better idea of the intricacies of items as well as specific setups, which meant when you did make it happen it felt a lot more special and like *you* were the one doing it, rather than just following what had essentially become some flowchart.

Also there's things that while optimal are just not fun, savescumming is one of them. Repeatedly closing and opening <strange scientist>'s buy menu might be the best way to get incredible randarts but i would absolutely be okay with that getting nerfed.
