In the United States, I have met many people who who believe the level of safety in a city block is roughly a function of the number of police officers that patrol it regularly. Do Japanese commoners have a similar belief on average, or do they attribute the level of safety or danger in an area to other factors?

>> No.3836199

safety there is inversely proportional to the density of gaijin.

I don't think I've ever met someone who trusted the police here...

Crime rates I guess.

But, did these people say that more cops make it safer? Or the other way around? The former's definitely not true where I live.

Here = Japan, or here = mycityusa?

I consider the saftety of a block to be based on the number of armed households to be found there. Of course my block is not Urban and we don't rely on the Cops. Why trust people whos metric is how many people they put in prison without regard to guilt?

The people I've met seem to think that safety is high because the cops are physically there to prevent and discourage dangerous situations. My city's police force is large for it's size.

I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada where per-capita crimerates are ridiculous and people can get stabbed anywhere in town reliably.

I trust police on serious matters. Without the traffic police's daily quota of tickets, they are generally very civil and helpful.

Having more police on the streets would drastically improve our safety.

I just felt like adding this to contrast Emiya's post.

Micheal Moore led me to believe that every city in Canada is extremely safe. I guess I shouldn't trust everything he says, even if I like some of it.

/n/iggerocity about Japan is allowed. It just has to be firmly about Japan, and not a pretext to whine about mongrels breathing our air.

Why did this thread become about us, and not about the Japs? This is why threads about Japan never work. With the exception of a few of us, nobody on /jp/ knows a thing about Japanese culture. And by that I mean real Japanese culture. Not your cartoons.
