Do you know why they used the all-target spellcard? It doesn't help break Rojo's barriers or buff up Reimu, and it only gives them another turn to buff their defenses. It's effective against fairies, but I'd hope her LW is enough to obliterate them.

-20% less damage taken from her weaknesses
-20% more damage dealt against enemy resistances
-Own yin attack up by 1 stage for each graze
-When switching in, heals barrier abnormality of the front row
-When switching out, increases partner's barriers

Active skills
-1st skill: own yin def up by 3 stages for 3 turns and accuracy of all allies up by 2 stages for only 1 turn
-2nd skill: own barrier +1, own yang attack up by 2 stages for 2 turns and all allies yin def up by 2 stages for 3 turns
-3rd skill: own P + 1.00, yin attack for whole team up by 2 stages for 2 turns and 3 burns on 1 enemy for 2 turns

Passive skills
-Damage from yang attacks down by 30% every time
-80% chance to gain 1 level of yin attack for 3 turns when attacked
-80% chance to gain 1 level of yang attack for 3 turns when attacked

People can't really predict how good her damage will actually be without seeing exactly how her spells are set up, what slayers she has, what boost type she is, the bullet types and all that. She lacks some of the best passive damage boost skills that the top damage dealers have at least. 3 burns is interesting because that is a defense debuff for the 1 enemy. Her old self reduces all yin damage which is a nice contrast I guess.

Interesting. Most of the time they throw non-elemental bullets into all-target spellcards to avoid making them too good in regards to breaks. But in this case they just made the layout weird and made it backloaded. Basically accomplishes the same thing while allowing her to be better vs mixed weaknesses.

She feels like a jack-of-all-trades character. Lots of elements, lots of buffs, a random debuff, good damage, and not overly amazing at any one thing. I was going to roll for her anyways because Yukari, but it's nice to see that she's versatile in terms of gameplay as well.

Use all her skills, use 3 shields, use 1 boost, use her first AoE spell with a Red Marisa card. Next turn just boost to the max and use her LW which should have the best damage boosting card you have for it (either her signature card maxed or Thunder Beat maxed. I never use Iku for grinding that stage but this seems to work. Otherwise that one fairy will survive.

Yuyuko 3 feels really fitting, very soft ghost lady voice.
Junko 2, super deep evil voice. Her 3rd voice is also great. I wish she was actually good so that I could have Junko doing her evil laughs more often.
Red Marisa 3, it's her most serious voice
Suwako 1 because of the way she laughs when using shields and boosts
SFES Flan 2 sounds REALLY into it, especially when using spells. Her first voice is fucking terrible though when actually used in battle.

If you want a strategie that keeps most of her shields, use all her skills, boost to the max and use her LW on turn 1. This will be enough to win already most of the time but not always. Repeat this manually until you get a turn that has Red Marisa surive the LW. Use 1 shield, boost as high as possible und use Iku's first normal shot. It's the same number of turns but does have a chance of sometimes only being 1 turn though if you want to be faster or get more battles total in an auto-grinding session is something you have to decide.

Metal is for some reason pretty rare in the highest tier of this game. You'd think there would be at least 1 SFES character who is metal heavy. Though at this point I am already happy when the best characters are not moon focused.

Honestly it's pretty common, but there's no combination of easily available, has plenty of metal breaks, and is powerful. Nemuno and Joon both have plenty, but they're solo-target. Mostly the same deal with Miko. Shizuha and Minoriko both have all-target metal, but they're weak. Youmu has it, but you only get 2 per spellcard and no LW. Shou has it on her LW, but has less of it on her spellcards.

standard youmu has 2-for-1P breaks on all her cards. Last word is moon though, for some fucking reason .

PCB Youmu isn't all that great in terms of metal, actually. 0P metal on her all-targeting focus shot, which is nice, but her spellcards are single-target and her LW is wood/moon. Her one good metal card is backloaded too, so you get 2-for-2P and 4-for-3P to a single target.

Minoriko is surprisingly OK. 2-for-1P on her LW and has an all-targeting spellcard doing 3-for2P.

The best overall is probably B!Youmu. Pic related. Not very dense on her LW though. Outside of that there's not really a super great all-targeting metal breaker.

As long as most of the LW's damage is metal, I'd say that's dense enough. You don't want to break an enemy's barrier with a LW unless it's necessary, since then you can apply debuffs.
Also Nemuno and black Youmu seem like they would work well together. Nemuno's LW is entirely fire and wood for no reason when she only has metal bullets otherwise, so Youmu can make up for that. Plus Nemuno has a paralyze skill to use with Youmu's paralyze break.

Sometimes units need multiple turns to build it up with spellcards, even if they don't need the help of story cards. The appeal is getting +6 party-wide on turn one.
Even a modern, powerful unit like ZUN Reimu can only get 6 yang atk by herself on turn 1. SFES Toyohime tops her off and lets her run a defense or damage boosting story card instead.

On this train of thought have the japanese made a good damage calculator for this game yet? Would be cool to see how exactly shit interacts without having to stumble around in-game.

The goal is to solo story card stages and Mokou can not do that in this stage because her elemental coverage is too poor. Trashing characters is never a good idea unless it's a dupe of an already upgraded character. Throwing a character away for 100 tokens is probably the worst deal you can make in this game outside of maybe buying those packs that only have cubes in them.

Characters recover stamina while in the school so if you have a set up that takes super long and turn on all animations and 1x speed, your characters can recover so much stamina that they can go for hundreds of battles without getting tired.
