On Day 12 if you choose not to remove the shroud you get killed by Rider on Day 13 but even worse you don't get access to the Interlude where Sakura attacks Rin for supposedly endangering Shirou by making him do projection magic and slightly loosening the Shroud yet you DO get access to the Interlude where Sakura overhears the conversation the two have over the high jump, meaning for making one choice you are immediately fucked over by getting an improper progression of the relationship between Rin and Sakura. Just cut out both Interludes or neither of them, Jesus.

I think there are several instances where making a choice that leads to a bad end means you skip over some Interludes - the one that comes to mind is if you reject Rin's offer in the Fate route and enter Bonnie and Clyde, Day 5 of UBW (which means you instantly die when the chase begins), the Interlude where Rin kills Caster's bone creatures in the building in Shinto doesn't play. That one clearly doesn't happen since Rin wouldn't walk around with Archer injured by Saber so I have to assume that was a deliberate choice by Nasu rather than a coding error, hence why I assumed the same for this one.

Shinji and Shirou met in middle school, making them about 11, it's only about 1.5 years before the HGW that they start distancing and about 3 years before it that Shinji started abusing her. They're both 17, so you do the math.

Why did Ciel get so much hate in the past?

Ciel definitely had the best chemistry with Shiki out of all the other girls. Shiki and Ciel are literally like a married couple from the very start of the VN. In the VN, Ciel is consistently the only character that is shown to be competent, assured, and benign. She is consistently the only character Shiki can trust. She is, consistently, the only character that knows what she's doing, and is willing to help Shiki. When Shiki is babbling around like the retard he so often is in the VN, Ciel is always here to reassure him, help him get back on his feet, and is just a great human bean in general.

Ciel was a secretive mask-upon-mask character and becomes unpredictable because of how often she switches between them even though Ciel acts completely independent from Shiki and the rest of Tsukihime's plot. The umbrella scene where Ciel finds Shiki in the rain and he has nowhere to go, so she takes him to her apartment and help him get back to his regular self. That scene is also triggered by having Shiki face reality instead of denying that it happened and having him believe that it was just a dream.

Her route kinda sucked in that it was mostly a retread of Arc's route until the end and she was "overused" a bit since she was the only church person so she needs to be there for every church thing, the only person that consistently shows up to bail Shiki out of bad situations, and still shows up every bad ending. Ironically giving her less things to do by having more characters helped her out a bunch.
But more importantly saying Ciel was shit became a bit of a pseudo-meme over time

The only deviation from FSN that I can think of that improved the story was having Kirei accept his nature over the course of the events of the Fourth Holy Grail War rather than prior to them and maybe Saber having already met Gilgamesh prior to the final battle. Everything else was just Urobuchi not understand stuff, misremembering stuff or both and Nasu not correcting him for whatever reason.

Her route being poorly planned out with Arc made her role as a heroine lesser than it should’ve been in the OG game. Thankfully the remake made her a real heroine and their chemistry in the remake is amazing. I also have issues with her character in KT with her being treated as a joke at times with how unpopular she was and adding on more curry jokes flanderizing her into nothing but a curry fiend even on their date. Nasu didn’t really explore her trauma in that game besides the back alley which is her best moment in that game. I just hope Nasu treats her better going forward like in the remake and keeps her trauma and her strength in wanting to atone.
