most people (myself included) have no idea what japan is like first hand. We have their media and a few blogs to relay that information, the problem is most of it is still fake because these animes, etc are just rough sketches of japanese life not filled in with detail and color.

Most people will *eventually* give up, outgrow, move on with japanese media after they get tired of looking at "sketches"

/v/ has plenty of directly vidya-related content.
it's only recently that /b/tards looking to seperate themselves from the other /b/tards started flooding it with greentext threads about school and girlfriends and the like, unaware of r9k.

It's pretty obvious /jp/ was meant for non-anime/video game Japanese media from the onset.Even then, there are much better places for stuff like dramas and idols, so it boils down to VN's and doujinshi mostly. Most of the "Japan" threads are usually just shitty trolling that we can do without. The only ones that aren't really are the tea threads.
