Interestingly enough you can see people lamenting the death of 4chan 15 years ago!

Does it make anyone sad seeing old internet communities gone by? I was never on the old 4chan, but when I see old 4chan stuff, or old anime websites with their very "xd lawl!" way of speaking it really fills me with a horrible sense of melancholy and loss for some reason. Like I want to be there.... I'm not sure why though. Was it a better time?

I have the same thing, mostly when watching older movies.
Old internet memes and websites though? Nope.

I wonder how Orion would feel about his art being used as some random forum mascot.

Really interesting, it's nice to see there's people with interests in this stuff like me. However I've always felt empty, like I've always wanted an entire community explore the 90s and 2000s anime internet sphere with but I don't think any such community exists.

I am just going off of memory and whatever bookmarks I have left that still work. I don't know if anyone ever did but I had planned on uploading red.room after the last one on the internet went down when geocities did.

You were in the anime community back in the 90s then? How was it? Was it a better time?
And what is red.room?

The internet was of course much smaller which made it seem much much bigger than it is now and was more of an exploration. red.room was an early interactive Japanese horror animation that gained notoriety after the Nevada tan/Sasebo slashing killing.

You don't have any nostalgia for those times then? Am I insane to spend my time fetishizing the past internet?
Also that animation sounds really interesting, is it anything special?

The closest you have is Bibanon, which closest tie on this site was to /qa/ (before it got filled with spammers) and its Happening Thread (which is now on /trash/). So you'll probably have to search a bit if you wanted to find anything.

I feel nothing but a platonic man-crush for mid-90s incel guy. That bro understands the struggle. He was me before I truly settled into being me, and there are probably other anons who feel the same way.

Every generation of incel loves the seedy parts of the anime fandom and tries their best to ignore the shitters, only to get blown the fuck out when the trend continues and even more shitters flood in. This is the destruction of a fandom playing out over generations, but it's still good to know that boomtakus were in fact men of culture. If that wasn't true, and the anime fandom started off with normal people ironically circle jerking over cartoon titties, that's when you know your fandom was shit from the start and never should've existed.

tldr I kneel to the old guard.

I understand how you feel. Despite these behaviors being rather childish and asinine, I find some strange comfort in it, as if I'm returning to a simpler part of my life. It's why I bothered to finish the Touhou Mother games despite them being awful by any metric.
