Talent companies take a large proportion of the revenue generated from youtube, and stop you from doing things you want to do. Chinese were never really a problem after the first time she went on break, they just flooded her youtube chat/hashtags occasionally. It was probably just the combination of things. The reason is because /tg/ had a monster girl thread for a while where they took it very seriously, but it ended up dying out. A few people from there were upset over that and came here to spam /tg/ stuff, including western monster girls, human knights, warhammer, etc. They would also start threads with those as the op just to cause a disturbance. The meidos finally started to ban them when they were making five threads but maybe they've stopped doing that again. I'll be honest. I'm new to /jp/. Started visiting last summer. It has some issues for sure, but it's still one of the better fairly active boards on 4chan. It's the only board I spend a lot of time on, with this site. vtubers are annoying but easy enough to filter out, other threads keep their topics contained for the most part, and posters here are better about replying to garbage.
It's about all you could hope for on this site in 2021.
I hope it stays that way. Somehow smaller touhou imageboards are worse than /jp/ in my experience. Full of spergs that can't help but feed into off-topic shit because nobody discusses anything.

Amazingly, /jp/ has been able to maintain standards in post quality, use of concise and meaningful language, and behavioral etiquette better than "academic" boards such as /sci/. Bait usually gets ignored and posts that break rules get reported. God knows why it isn't the same everywhere else.

moot created a new board to host his farewell Q&A called /qa/, but it is apparently pretty hard to delete boards internally so they let it become a SFW /b/ that was unlisted in the header like /trash/. It became a /jp/ colony, but within a year or two people would regularly troll and spam the board, IIRC people who hated anime. The /jp/ colony group left for a spinoff site around 2017, then the trolls claimed the board. /qa/ became a home for the most insane posters in this site's history probably, they produced a ton of OC but most of it was awful. But what got the board shut down was their habit of raids. A lot of people there hated 4chan staff/boards which is why they were on /qa/ to begin with, so they would start raids on random boards and organize off-site to raid 4chan or other places. Mods got tired of this recently and shut the board down. It's still a problem but since they have no way to recruit it will probably slowly die off.

The board sucked but the only thing they ever did that annoyed me was raid altchans and slow boards like /po/ to kill very old threads. I think mods also realized a meta board is just a waste of space since they know they're not gonna read them, so users are basically just talking into the void.

There is no good way to do community moderation here sadly. Futaba-style moderation requires a Japanese internet environment as far as I can tell, otherwise one guy can easily spam del threads to death. Janitors and mods are only following the rules passed down to them, so if you want vtubers off of /jp/ your best bet is to explain why in the feedback form instead of here where they won't see it. I like vtubers myself but I think vtuber threads should have moved to /vt/ since the hololive threads here just keep getting worse due to insulation.

But it's unlikely that choice would be repealed, anyway. They tend to hate reneging on something once it's been decided. Interpreting the rules strictly often comes ahead of what's best for the board, so since vtubers are literally otaku culture they get to stay. The ones focusing on video games are just a single facet of it. The avatar (whether 2D or 3D) is just a coat of paint, it doesn't dictate what content the person wants to make.
There's tons of virtual singers and idols that never touch video games (or if they do, it's extremely rare) and most of them are just straight up utaite imports from NND.
You can find vtubers that do comedy skits or shitposts and nothing else. There's also this one dude that I follow who does videos on Japanese criminals. Even seiyuu like Miyamura Yuko and Yuuki Ono have dabbled in vtubing with varying levels of success. Suntory and Uma Musume have their vtubers as well.
I know it's easy to disregard the entire medium because of what's on the surface, but it all goes much deeper than video games and stream donations.
