It is just a way of using them that Nasu and Touko took out of their asses and presented for the first time in there, without even suggesting they could be used like that.

Normally, you surgically add the crest to the magus' body. Much like a transplanted organ, depending on the level of compatibility, it can cause many problems and even lead to death.

What Touko did was take the body of a bunch of magi with lineages (no matter how large), and grab their crests for herself, but intead of adding them to her body, she uses them as "external hardware".

In other words:
Aoko and normal magi: Transplanted organ;
Touko: USB cable connected to them.

It is better in a way, as you don't have to deal with problems spanning from compatibility, and can expand endlessly as long as you keep killing magi with lineages and taking their bodies.
In other way, it is bad, because you lose the boons of having one (Aoko's straight up ressurected her many times in the Snark fight, and Rin's prevented her from dying many times in Heaven's Feel), and add another step to the actions of casting a spell using the crest.

The thing with Mahoyo is that it actually has real prose (unlike some VNs). A big reason why I like it so much is because I really enjoy how Nasu wrote it and the way the text flows. It has all the fancy visuals and shit which is excellent of course, but all the text perfectly describes everything that happens on the screen as well. So you could MTL and probably get the gist of what is happening, but you'd completely lose out on most of the literary merit.

Sounds like as a fighter. Anyway, it's fun! Especially if you have some buddies to play with. It's not perfect though. The Netcode has some issues and it's kinda hard to find games at times lately(for me anyway-on PC). But that should improve some with new character dlc and updates to the game systems. It's down to preference really. Plenty of people play on pad. There is also stick(Korean/JP being the more popular variations) and some variations on stickless controllers. Everything has it's own benefit/drawbacks but it's mostly gonna come down to the game you play, platform(s) you play on and what you are physically comfortable using. I'm not really comfortable giving a rec on brand though for sticks since I use an Hori that's not manufactured anymore. It had abnormally low input delay which imo is the only thing to really give a shit about(It won't matter much/if any desu unless you're autistic about milliseconds and will go unnoticed outside testing specifically among the top sticks.)
If you pulled my leg and demanded a recommendation then I'd probably say get a crossup($300 USD). It's basically any other stick but has some ergonomically placed additional buttons that aren't too shabby to have for some games. I don't honestly use mine that often and it's more collection since the buttons IMO only really shine in something like Tekken where you need to have frame perfect inputs on many frequently used moves. I have the muscle memory built up though so it's more detrimental than helpful but if you were starting out fresh it would be beneficial for that type of game. That's incredibly irrelevant to Melty Blood though. If you prefer to not use a stick then you can just use one of the stickless controllers(4 buttons replace stick directions) and it's kind of like slapping keys on a keyboard. I enjoy these types of controllers often enough. I use pad the least but it's not bad or anything and tons of pros use them. It's probably something you're normal person will be much more familiar with/comfortable using in general and it's a lot easier to haul around than anything else. You also got analogs and dpad which comes in handy in some games with some characters. I do recommend just picking one type of controller and sticking with it though instead of being crazy like me but they are all fun in their own ways and that's what should be the decisive factor. Either way you'll probably hurt your wrists or hands getting used to whatever you use so I suggest trying to maintain good posture and placement of hands.

There's this Dota 2 team vs team game made by the one who owns Steam, currently they're holding a seasonal event with a co-op roguelike mode which called as Aghanim Labyrinth Continuum Conundrum consisting of 17 randomized dungeons that players need to climb.
