I think Mahoyo could make a pretty good film if done competently.
Stuff like the Carnegie Case, and Kojika talking about pigeons, and both epilogues are sure to be skipped though.
It all depends on how well the director can pull off the slower scenes without making them screw with the pacing. The staff would need to have different priorities compared to fate anime.

Oath Under Snow wasn't the prettiest nor did it have the highest budget, but in being an adaptation going through the more non-action parts, it was pretty good.

I just finished it today and damn what an amazing experience, it was night and day when I compare this to the Tsukihime Remake (which was one of my most painful VN reading experiences).
Btw I find it pretty memey that the whole movie thing starts to come out the moment I finish the game, what a fucking coincidence. Hoping it turns out good, do we know the studio?
PS: Are there any Mahoyo spin offs or any short story with the Mahoyo cast I can read to fill the hole in my heart?

In OG, her magecraft wasn't absurd, it was said to be on pair with high ranked mages: it was just very strong, but nothing unreasonable. She still wouldn't be able to compete in magecraft with the three mages in Mahoyo. The top-tier magic itself wasn't something as crazy as it became. Look at all depictions of Touko, even though she is said to be one of the strongest mages, she never does anything crazy spectacular even when fighting for her life (Touko vs Aoko fight as well). Splitting a city with magic was not a thing before.
But in Remake, Nasu pulled some numbers out of his arse, and now she is obviously stronger than any mage, may be except for Zelretch. Which is obviously ridiculous and unsightly. It was just simply unneeded.
Hell, Nasu said himself that DAs got powercrept, which implies that what was once considered pretty strong in Tsuki, became weaker.
So, yeah, it's reasonable to expect that in Mahoyo2 (if it ever comes out), Aoko will pull out some ridiculous shit (besides the 5th Magic which was always her strength).

1. That Ploy of Alice was never said to be invulnerable or anything iirc, in fact, it was hiding itself for a reason. All she did is pierced that meteor-thingy that it was hiding behind.
2. The whole area was filled with mana that Alice released. As Aoko said herself it was what allowed to use her magic so much, it wasn't the usual conditions.
3. It was the usual stuff that she always does, just on a bigger scale, partially cause of the said mana. She didn't do anything outlandish, just her usual destructive but simplistic lasers.

And you are missing the important part, that Tsuki is not a new game, but had an original that didn't had any of that large scale flashy fights and stupidly oversized weapons, but was still very much loved. If it was some new TM game I wouldnt have cared a bit about how they decided to present it. Fate was already much more flash, but Fate is Fate and Tsuki is Tsuki. And one of the things that made Tsuki special, to me in particular, was the subduedness of the events which made the game seem to be realistic or even believable in some sense. And it's not like it lacked in events or anything anyway.

It all comes down that nowadays people got used to this flashy stuff and Nasu adapted TsukiR to be that way as well, so that new readers won't have their flashy shit deficiency. Nasu said that himself (back in 2012?) that he plans to make changes to cater to a younger audience, and so he did. It is understandable, but sad nevertheless.

UBW is probably the best paced one and it helps that the slice of life scenes are focused mainly on Shirou's interactions with Rin with helps develop their relationship. I love Rin but holy shit there are WAY too many cutesy interactions with her that lead nowhere because Rin is aside from the plot not that relevant to the themes of the route and Shirou's character development. People complain about the exposition but the real issue is that so little happens in it. Just reached the confrontation with Shinji and Rider in the school and God it feels great to see things finally get going.

Nanaya assassination arts/taijutsu yes. As a member of the demon hunting Nanaya heritage, that shit comes natural. KT implies he has that shit in his subconscious and will learn them/draw them out. It's all about presentation. Old Type-Moon had a more grounded presentation (even Nasu himself said as much) despite the magic/supernatural bullshit. But lately they've really upped the ante because budget, "make everything flashy" and worse, as Nasu put it, "go full hollywood" to appease the masses who just wants to see explosions.

Yeah but the trouble is that for some reason the "cast" is way too large for a slow burn romance. Sakura has a fairly prominent presence a quarter or a third into it (or at least I think so? Either way it's way past the point she should), Taiga has a few too many scenes for my taste and I already mentioned the problem with Rin. UBW, which is ironically a "less romantic" route, somehow manages to establish very early on a certain "Shirou and Rin vs. the world" dynamic and the action feels like it enhances the romance (as it is very much so used to get the ball rolling with the two) and in HF the bloated cast feels justified as the characters have things to do and experience rather than just have em there for no reason than to establish shit for the following routes. When I find myself having more fun going to Bad End 16 through the Fate route by rejecting Rin's offer than the next few days of the route proper it kinda bodes bad for how you're handling your writing.

Adding a bunch of characters only works when it's done in a singular work. The problem with TsukiRe is that it added a bunch of characters AND completely separates the routes where they are likely more relevant in to a future release in a new game, creating a very awful feeling. Before it didn't bother you too much if a character had little role in a route because you know there's another route in the very same game that they will likely get explored better. Here though you have wait who knows how long to just see if these characters will even be worth their salt in a completely new purchase, and by then you may just have stopped caring

Characters having little role in one route feels worse because you don't immediately encounter them again in a more fleshed out route right after.
