Baldr Sky - Art, music, hype.
Eden* - Gorgeous art and settings.
France Shoujo - Epicly lengthy script, good art.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien - I want to cry to something other than Clannad.

You need to emphasize the "slow build-up" part.
I'm not one to fast forward usually, heck I usually like this sort of thing and utsuge are one of my favorite genre, but France Shoujo was far too slow even for me.
And neither the plot nor the cast really grabbed me.
It may have some fantastic story and underneath all this build-up but honestly I can't see most people liking something like this and I can understan the low scores in EGS.

People just need to learn to attention span.

I can't help but to think it really is, at least from what I've read about the game. Pros:

-Extremely long. KGNE ~Latest Edition~ adds the fandisc and a chapter for some of the characters. Think of how exciting this would be to translate!
-Many paths. The mood of the game can change depending on what path you decide to take.
-Depressing, funny, and everything in-between.
-Wonderful music and CGs. ~Latest Edition~ has animated faces and great special effects.
-It's been ranking on the top of erogamescape ever since it was released. People really like this game.
-Great H-scenes and variety.
-KimiNozo has it all: yandere, lolis, tsundere, etc. It is impossible not to like at least one of the characters.
-This would be a great game to translate because fans of the anime have been waiting for a translation for years. Most think an English translation is "impossible" due to the game's length. This would definitely win if all the fans of the anime knew the KimiNozo game could be translated.

Cons:

-Really long. It might take a while to translate.
-It isn't written by Romio Tanaka.
-May be too depressing for those that aren't into sad games.

Download the CG pack, fap and you won't lose anything. Tony's games are well known for having horrible writing/plot. It just sold decently because of Tony art.
