Now people just need to vote it in the final poll and not listen to people going herp low EGS score derp. If people play a game for the wrong reasons of course it's going to have a low score and a lot of people dropping it.

If you look at the individual ratings and ignore those who obviously played it expecting something different, it suddently becomes a 80+ game. Yes, that's still not 96 or even 90, but to not play it because of low score is stupid.

From what I've heard it doesn't sound generic at all. Actually I'm voting it exactly because it seems like the least generic candidate. As far as I can tell people who vote it for the art or are expecting lots of moe moe will be disappointed though.

And well, I still find it ironic that people would vote for whatever is popular according to a Japanese eroge site and when it doesn't win (or even when something with "too low" EGS score gets into the final) claim that the poll is rigged. If anything it's the EGS userbase and people who give any value to their ratings that are trying to rig the poll.

People should just vote for what they think they'd enjoy, or better yet these polls should just end. It's not like Ixrec is going to translate something he doesn't like (probably so even if it's good but just not to his taste) so he might as well just translate something he's played and liked. He should just start playing things on the top7 list he made and translate all the excellent ones.

[Pil / Stone Heads] France Shoujo ~Une Fille Blanche~
Pros:
+Extremely long with 48 endings
+most endings are depressing
+game has a pretty constant negative vibe about it and radiates futility
+Fantastic, almost unparallelled art
+Historical setting with excellent, era-appropriate writing
+Extremely well-written multidimensional characters
+Strong imagery and symbolism...
Cons:
-... that might get lost in translation
-long and difficult as a translation project
-Definitely not for everyone; in fact, whatever your tastes, there will be something to enrage you, disgust you or simply put you off your dinner in France Shoujo (though I'd call that a pro)

No, I'm not just stroking Asceai's cock. Everyone else just failed to make any of the other candidates sound nearly as appealing as France Shoujo. It's not like I won't change my vote if someone makes one of the finalists sound even more interesting.

no pro for 11eyes? Lemme add one for you then
Pro: Cross Vision - easily one of the more innovative scene playback systems I've yet to see in a VN.

The black squares represent having no scenes, the dark red ones represent scenes already viewed, the bright red ones represent scenes that have yet to be viewed, and the blue squares represent scenes that have yet to be unlocked. The kanji at the top are the names of the various characters through whom you see the scenes.

This allows the player to view scenes as they like, at their own convenience without interrupting the flow of the storyline. It helps to provide backstory for the various characters, be it friend or foe, along with being able to see the same scene from different points of view.

Brief Synopsis Courtesy of Yuyucow -Muvluv Extra is your usual high school story; lucky guy has lots of girls who want his penis and nothing really happens. This is supposed to be as good as a harem story can't be, which is not much sadly. But after you clear the 2 main routes in Extra, you can start playing Muvluv Unlimited. There, the main character suddenly wakes up in an alternative universe, where humanity is fighting ugly aliens with cool mechas and almost everyone has been killed. He meets his acquaintances, but they all are pretty different according to this new world. Unlimited is basically the story of his training and how he stops being useless, so even though it's better than Extra it still isn't that good. But then there's Muvluv Alternative, the final part of the trilogy. The protagonist wakes up again in a new world, just to see he's back at the starting point of Unlimited (but with his old memories and abilities), so this time fixes everything he fucked up. I can't tell you more because I haven't actually played the game, I hope it's enough for you to get interested in the game.

... I'm kind of glad I didn't vote for MuvLuv, even though it does sound intriguing. I really think a project like that is best tackled by a group formed just for that purpose and dedicated to that game in particular.

And anyway, if MuvLuv really IS as good as people say, a group should form for that purpose eventually anyway. I have my doubts about Swan Song or Eden or Kara no Shoujo or France Shoujo having groups coagulating around them anytime soon, so Amaratasu is best used to work on those lesser known titles, since we've been given the choice.

Nanoha is designed to pander to male action-oriented otakus anyway, with laser beam powerlevel and lolis. The formula turns out to be a great hit. StrikerS fails with baka gaijin audience because it's a multi-medium franchise spanning from weekly to monthly complimentary story in magazines to drama CDs, and no one actively translate them.

Ruitomo is similar to Saihate no Ima, in the concept of group of friends banding together in order to solve each other problems', and those conflicts are pretty fucked up (if you ignore the curse thing, you're dead). The comedy comes mainly from interaction instead of gags (like in Cross Channel), though some are Japanese wordplay and puns so they'll be hard to translate effectively.

Thanks, I just read those (p)reviews.

>Recommended for: People who want action, people who want military stuff, people who like mechs
Uh, what if I don't? People seem to tell me it's still the awesomest thing ever. I can appreciate a good story even if there's some elements I don't like in it, but...

Also they better have a pretty damn good explanation why the protagonist keeps jumping into parallel worlds and back in time because that sounds just about as lame as amnesia. And how much of a "hero" is he? I hate "guy saves the world" stuff.

Then there's the other Muv-Luv games. No one even tries to make Extra and Unlimited sound very good yet say that they're a must before playing Alternative.

>Most prominent of the new additions are of course the three main heroines of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. Suzumiya Haruka, Akane, and Hayase Mitsuki. Akane played a small cameo role in the original Muvluv, but all three play a large role in Alternative.
Oh wait, now I'm supposed to play kiminozo first as well? Well that one I'd gladly play. Someone translate it already, damn it.

So the good things I could find:
Apparently an epic story even if I'm not into mecha
"Instead of comedy, Alternative focuses upon drama of Kiminozo proportions."
Good production values

I don't know. That sounds less than convincing. Maybe it's just not my thing. I like most genres though and there's exceptions even to those I don't usually like. What I've read doesn't make it sound one bit like good sci-fi though. At least it should have decent drama. Meh, I don't know. But hey, wouldn't it be funny if Muv-Luv won and kiminozo was picked as a side project? Well, maybe it's too long for that...

Seem the people that are against MuvLuv are only against it because of mecha.

You guys are so shallow and are just like the real deal fags that can't see pass a bit of furry.

I'm against it because of the hair. That's not shallow, right?

Only white knights wanting to play hero and pedophiles lusting after Yuka's ass rate this game so fucking high.

Perhaps the same could be said of all shounenfags.

Then again, I quite enjoyed Yuka's ass.

It sounds like most of /jp/ would enjoy it then.

I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about sex scenes. If I want to beat off I'll play an untranslated Black Cyc game or something.

I suppose I'll vote for Swan Song. It gets played up a lot around here and while I don't normally trust /jp/'s tastes very much, it has an interesting premise.

<~Nagato> if muvluv wins, swan song will most likely be taken up as a side project in between the 3 games

><Ixrec|SnI> 1.5 years is reasonable counting all my breaks and Swan Song

Remember guys. A vote for Muv Luv is a vote for Swan Song as well.
He is expecting everything to be done in about 1.5years instead of 3-4years like some anon is saying.

>Also they better have a pretty damn good explanation why the protagonist keeps jumping into parallel worlds
They have. It's an eroge, though, so it's bound to be related to "love".

>Then there's the other Muv-Luv games.
They're good games. EX is nice if you're looking for a generic school comedy and UL is also nice with the sci-fi touch. But as Alternative dwarfs both, they're not not given the same importance.

>And how much of a "hero" is he?
Just a guy who happened to know a few things about the future and a rather skilled pilot. He isn't single handedly killing all the aliens and doing flashy things just because he's the hero. It's more about teamwork and FUCK YEAH MANKIND!.

>Doesn't make it sound one bit like good sci-fi
While you can't compare it to a good book, Alternative's sci-fi elements are nicely done, but that's just my opinion.

Which version has the head biting thing on?

>> No.3762410

Why is muvluv worth it? I know you guys think it's awesome, but it's the third in a triolgy with two mediocre first parts. Are we really going to get what's going on, even though we're skipping the bad parts?

This just seems like something that's gotten blown increasingly out of proportion.
I mean, the description of the world sounds great, but keep in mind a lot of these VNs sound incredible when you describe them but a lot have been regarded as ultimately shallow. And I have yet to hear about some sort of god tier review of the game.

I mean, no matter what wins, I'm sure we'll have something awesome to read. But seriously? This is like the blind leading the blind, and for that reason it was retarded to decide this with a poll.

>even though we're skipping the bad parts?

We are not skipping the "bad parts". Ixrec has stated multiple times that he will partially translate the first games (at least 1 full route) if Alternative is chosen.

There's no bad part in Muv-Luv, Ixrec is exaggerating a whole lot.
I had a blast with Extra, it's really quite funny, well paced and constantly entertaining.
It may be cliché but it's good cliché.
And Unlimited is pretty good, despict the alternative world really well and manage to create a real "menace" despite the fact that you never see the BETA, it's a good war drama with a great ending.
Of course Alt blows them out of the water, but they are quite good as a stand-alone no matter what.

Alternative. All the cool things are in Alternative, you don't even get to see a single BETA in Unlimited, just the shadow (Heavy laser class was it?). That's why EX/UL is mediocre in comparison.

You need to clear Meiya's and Sumika's routes to unlock Unlimited. Then again only the last 10 or so minutes differ from each other.

The character designs in Muv Luv is just a tad too weird for my tastes. So no, that's not a selling point for me.
