You could do pure 1-1 but a better way to save runs is to do it in parallel with other quests. For instance, to complete Bw2, I normally sortie to 2-1, around 5 times to get all 20 CV kills. That in turn unlocks Bw4, which is 2 sorties to 1-5, then Bw7 for 5 W3 runs. I wouldn't recommend running 4-2 for Bw6 though, since you can use that for transport kills.
After that, just go 1-1 or 1-5 for any remaining runs needed. If you're hardcore, you can go 7-1 to get ranking points.
