Recruite Isoroku. Bump her affection, give her special insta kill. It's pretty effective. Others...
They are all mostly shitty. You can free them (5 at a time, to get items) unless you really need them.
Although, Hara is somehow okay with his Volley shot, just bump his troops a bit. Better than Niwa for sure.
Also, recruit Ashikaga after temple event (happens after breaking 5 gourds) to get a cool item.

Also, summon reinforcements using your SAT bonuses. First are shitty, others are great. (Uruza, Magic, Maria all need affection upgrades to get their awesome skills) Recruit Kuge sisters in one of the first territories. Mino 3 is alright too. You can get a good monk with a SAT bonus after recruiting all 3 of them, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it at this point. You probably don't have a whole lot of it and need it for reinforcements.

It's easier to declare the war on Uesugi and Hojo than fighting Takeda, imo. First two are rather weak for big houses. Although Takeda is easy too, if you can do them fast.
Also, don't touch Iga or Akashi, if you can. They break gourds and give you pretty much nothing.

Only do it if you really want to. I never vassal, except for the Tenshi sect. In Tanegashimas case it's actually not that bad since you still have Yuzumi (did you capture her?) and don't miss out on SAT for not conquering it. The only bad thing about it is that you can't levy the territory.

So, last night I successfully blocked a Takeda blitz. Yet, no assassination event became available. I checked the wiki, which told me that I needed to defeat Takeda the normal way and save, before I can get the assassination event. So I did, saved and reloaded an old save; No assassination event.

Do I have to clear a game with Takeda defeated the normal way or must I block another blitz?

Sure, if you're playing on a high difficulty level it's best to have as many competent characters as possible. Just make sure having those characters is gonna allow you to finish the game at least as many turns faster as the points you'll lose by kicking them (4 for the clears, plus potentially 4 more for Endgame Points, I can't remember if their Passive slots already has something in 'em).

Yoshikage is worth keeping - he has decent stats and you might consider giving him Youkai Ward for when you fight the demon army or One Eye House. Monk Charge is also good against units that start with boosts, or warriors that Charge up.

Yukihime not so much - the only miko I know of worth keeping and using is Natori, and I haven't really used her either in my latest playthrough.
