What. Not all the time. Noses can easily fall under the same category as hands, where the person doesn't draw them "because it's too hard" and the fact that lots of anime-styled pictures can work okay without a nose.

Why would you go and by an Intuos 4 for your first tablet? I mean, it's a great tablet (I have a 6x11 Intuos 3) and I wish I could afford one, but even then it seems like a large investment for someone who hasn't had any prior interest in drawing. Wouldn't it have been smarter to at least get a cheaper tablet and use it for a year to see if you would really use it regularly than to fork out that much cash for a top-of-the-line tablet?

You could always be just some rich guy who has money to burn, but being a poor-ass student, that seems like a pretty big leap. Just saying.

Fair enough. I got some really cheap ass tablet for my first, and ended up drawing on it so much that I broke the pen (I had to use masking tape to keep it together) but even then I still drew with it, being happy just from the fact I could draw on a computer. After about half a year I got my Intuos 3, and it's lasted me ever since. So yes, your tablet will last a very long time, and considering you pretty much got the best there is out there, you're set for awhile. Just make sure it's what you want, and have fun using it. I've seen a lot of cases where people fork out cash for a good tablet only to leave it lying around unused. Use these drawthreads as an opportunity to practice, take on a few requests if you're confident.

Top left is online friend's original design. Three on left and bottom left are the style adaption plus process. On the right is the finished artwork.

Tried a new coloring method, where coloring is done a single layer, and outline is done with sketchy solid black. Done in 5-6 hours. I wonder how many $ you can get with such simple-tier job.

Let me tell you one thing, you can make easy money off of furries that way. I heard a rumor of someone making $2000 from a single mediocre image thanks to a lunatic. You won't make that much, obviously, but if you are stout of heart it is a solid income.

To be quite honest, I never really liked /jp/ drawthreads very much, because they usually make it seem like an anime style really is the best way to quickly get good results in drawing.

It's fucking demotivating if you're trying to go through with realism first before delving into anime styles.

Ugh, I feel you on the motivation part. I haven't drawn a single line in weeks. Even in the middle of a drawing i'll drop it and just keep it open and uncomplete for like a week in SAI, then I'll draw a couple lines, drop it for a couple days, draw a couple lines, drop it for half a month.
This is why I never make any progress, I can't keep motivated in the slightest.

Where do you guys place your tablets? I mean my desk is pretty small a large keyboard and mouse already takes up most of the landscape infront of my dual monitors.
My desk is L shaped but I don't think I'll like to draw facing the wall and turning my neck 90 degrees to look at the monitor. it's a pretty good sized tablet. 223.5x139.7mm

You'll have to be careful to not pick up bad habits. Too many people that start off with tablets get far too addicted with the undo function, and they just keep spinning their wheels, making a random stroke until "it looks right".

What are you hoping to do? If you've never drawn before, it might be a good idea to start out in smaller steps. For example, first work on drawing faces until you feel comfortable with them, then move onto face + upper body, then the huge leap to drawing the entire body.

I suppose you could work on backgrounds at any time, but I wouldn't suggest putting people in them yet.

Okay, since this is a drawfag thread I want to ask a question that has been bugging me for the longest time. Am I the only one that has problems drawing people facing right? I mean, I'm pretty good at drawing people facing the left, but when I'm drawing a person facing the right it's like 100 times as difficult and my hand won't listen to me. And it just seems so stupid, why should it be harder to draw someone facing the right? Is it some sort of mind trick? Anyone else experienced this?

That aside, I think many people probably draw people facing left differently from facing right. I used to have completely different styles for left and right profiles.

Anyway, if it's 100x harder drawing a person facing right, then you should draw people facing right 100x more.

That's because your brain is trained to draw in that particular setting, so instead of focusing on the details you end up running an automatic proccess. You have to stop taking it easy and force yourself to draw other positions until you get them right.

I still have problems too, specially when drawing a person in front view (mirroring the face is cheat mode is a no, so...)
