Samefag here. I think that when it comes to listening, doing it passively when you're not good at it is worthless and a waste of time. It's better to stay in a state of heightened alert and high focus for one hour and be completely burned out at the end than it is to listen for ten hours in a relaxed state. It's almost the listening equivalent of expecting to learn kanji by staring at them.

I'm basing this off of sessions that I've actually done okay at + the sessions that have been completely useless + the fact that this is all about building neural connections.

I was able to stick with it for 5 days until I broke. I realized it really fucked me up as I couldn't really sleep anymore.
