-The Fall 2021 Event has truly commenced. There are a total of 3 maps, with 4 ship locks total. E-3, "Hachijoujima Absolute Defense Line", has 2 ship locks associated with it.
-Two new ships have been implemented with the event: Japanese DE Shounan (E-2 drop) and American submarine, SS-277 USS Scamp (E-3 reward).
-New event equipment implemented is the Hedgehog (Initial Model) in E-1 Hard, Submarine 4-tube Stern Torpedo Launcher (Initial Model) and 21inch 6-tube Bow Torpedo Launcher (Initial Model) from E-2, and Submarine 4-tube Stern Torpedo Launcher (Late Model) and 21inch 6-tube Bow Torpedo Launcher (Late Model) from E-3.
-The maximum ship/equipment slot has been increased to 510/2190.
-The September ranking rewards have been distributed. The new equipment is the Hedgehog (Initial Model).
-As of the Feb 28, 2020 maintenance, due to the ongoing DDoS attacks, measures have been taken that requires players from certain countries to use a Japanese IP address to connect to the Login servers. After getting to the start screen it's possible to disconnect from the VPN and continue playing without it. If you still encounter connection issues try clearing your cache and changing your time zone to JST. These countermeasures are temporary as of right now. EN EO now bypasses the block. Another possible workaround is using https://github.com/Tibowl/KCCacheProxy
-The following ships will receive another remodel at some point in the future:

How did your farming go TTKs? I Chougei is the only ship left that I don't have and I failed to farm her this event. Other than that, I got plenty of good dupes and kaiboukans to use as feed.

Need some help /jp/, I think I'm using Akashi list wrong.
Checked today (Tuesday) to see what is used to upgrade a F4F-3, it says Saratoga, Kai or Mk.II.
So I put Akashi with Mk II, but I'm only getting the options for F6F-3 and F6F-5. Try it with a lvl 1 dupe I have, that one puts up F6F-3 and SBD.

Yeah, I'm retarded. I was using Mk. II mod2.
The old wiki also says that Tuesday is Mk. II only and nothing else, so I gotta wait 4 more hours to get the option with the lvl 1 dupe.
Why does akashi-list put up the normal/Kai for today though, I don't get it.

I had way more issues in E2 than E3 because of retreats. On CV Hime I sunk her every time and only had 1 retreat and that was just because I didn't want to send Kaga back and fight her under AP. That single retreat was the only critical damage I took along her route. The event is super free.

if you haven't cleared TP phase here something I would do. This is what I would suggest to anyone who hasn't started E3 yet, also plans on doing a lot of farming, and has a lot of free slots remaining.

Equip your TP phase for full combat to S rank the boss. You will clear around 18 TP per run meaning you will sortie well over 30 times with a lot of S ranks. I ended up going back to that node to farm and ended up going around 40+ times. Ended up getting 2 fletchers, intrepid, and a plethora of kaiboukans.

What kind of support are you using? Where are you sending LBAS?

Mixed non-synergy setups on ships are generally bad, because you suck at all of it. Try to set a single ship (or Yuubari + 1dd) to full Sonar-DC-DCP in order to deal with the sub loli node, and the second DD either go full daihatsu or combat for boss node.

One option is to either use Node ASW Support and send LBAS to the boss, or send LBA to the sub loli node. Either way, using a single sonar will do crap damage, so just have a single ship do full Sonar-DC-DCP combo together with Yuubari, and have your other doggo go full daihatsu. Having a CVL doing OASW helps, but is nowhere near required.

Also remember to keep your daihatsu upgraded so your transport fleets can do a tad more damage on these situations.

Yes, I liked the slow pace of these two years. But I'm not talking about this small subset of recent events, but an overall trend. Do I really need to mention the events last year and the year before? Spring 2021 had 9 locks despite only having 5 maps? Aside from that, ever since 2018, pretty much every map had at least one phase, and a bunch of others certainly had bullshit unlocking.
And what about boss armour? We are nearing final bosses with 400 armour; abby victorious herself had 392 armour on LD.
Yes there has been an anomaly in that a few recent events have been easier, but you cannot deny that there is an overall trend of bullshit powercreeping, whether that be more phases, tougher bosses, or cancer escort fleets.

I don't even know where to start...
First of all, not everyone has the time to rank every month.
Second of all, by that logic, only at most 500 players at most could have fun playing the game. This doesn't even take into account that most people don't rank monthly, but quarterly to take advantage of quests, especially in the 101-500 range.
To tie into that, ranking is also bullshit. I remember collecting data and compiling it and it clearly showed a huge tendency for the cutoffs to increase (quite drastically) over time. This is even worse in my server where somehow, all the hardcore rankers managed to gather. cut-offs for top 500 were consistently over 3000 points while top 100 neared 5000. This was almost a year ago and would have certainly increased by now.

In the end, just mindlessly grinding through maps by the grace of RNG just isn't fun anymore and I guess I've been burned out.

Ranking isn't bullshit and it's integral to getting the most enjoyment out of the game. It shows commitment and on top isn't not that hard. I rank and maintain a job while doing it.
As for events the difficulty shouldn't surge back to easymode. Casuals and newfags have the option of lower difficulties if they can't be fucked to rank or play.

So only 500 people per server should enjoy the game?
Last month, ranking cutoff was nearly 4000 iirc. Even if we assume that you get ~1200 points from monthly EOs, that still leaves around 2800 points to get over the course of 30 days or around 93 per day. Thats 90 sorites to 7-1 per day. If we suppose a sortie lasts 4 minutes we are talking 360 minutes or 6 hours per day. This doesn't even take into account keeping up with other weekly or monthly quests. Even assuming you can do quarterlies to get points distributed over 3 months, that takes away maybe one hour every day?
You can't expect people to abandon their other commitments (not limited to just jobs) just so they can enjoy the game how you want them to. You can call them casuals, but casuals are still part of the game.

Anyhow, my original complaint wasn't even about ranking but rather the events themselves. To me at least, long events simply just aren't enjoyable anymore. Grinding maps is tedious.

The way I see it, hard should be a place to test the best of the best equipment. If you have that equipment but nowhere to use it, what's the point of it? Otherwise the equipment is just a trophy.
You can collect the ships in any difficulty, should be perfectly fine for a casual to be content without clearing hard. If you don't have a big cache of res and don't keep up with the game, it doesn't really matter if you can't clear hard anyway. You comfortably clear an easier difficulty and can then comfortably clear next event, no worries, just collect.
This was my 3rd memedal but I already thought I'd never get another since I've taken breaks and fallen behind in equipment, but it doesn't matter to me since I still just collect the ships and equipment I want and have a good old time with the game still.
The tedium of events is another thing, but I never have too much trouble and often go through hard as long as I can since managing locks is actually interesting, one of the few things that brings some strategy to the game. Some phases and maps are more time consuming and tedious than others though and I understand people complaining about them. TP phases.

It's true, collecting equipment is definitely a big part of it, and I'm still salty about missing out on pancake plane. But I also pick up stuff like the panzer corps, and people were complaining about that being locked behind medium even though I thought it was no big deal. Is that any different from looking at the picture of equipment? Obviously the game is more than just collecting, it's about rounding out your fleet, upgrading stuff, etc. and that's done regardless of whether you can clear hard like you said.
An all-or-nothing attitude doesn't work with time consuming games like this if you don't want to put in the time to collect everything, is what I'd say. Expect to not get everything and be content with what you do get.
