Because EraTohoK is a retarded pseudo bulletin board in which you have a compilation of japanese kimoi otakus and ossans submitting around more than 250 super detailed NTR scenarios of low quality with branching, and yet somehow all of them read exactly the same.

Everything else is basic game shit. Check it out, but don't change anything until you're at least halfway through. Make a save before doing or changing anything.

Now, for the game itself. You can do just about any scenario, but say you're going to do the Gensokyo War, here are some things to do if you're a beginner.

Your character stats are important, and what you do will effect your character, so don't go doing things mindlessly, unless pic related. The game is strategy based, and it can take time.
You should focus on subverting others, lending treasury money in the diplomacy tab on the left on the map stage, and keeping yourself out of their cross hairs, which should be piss easy even on Normal Difficulty. Once you've done that, focus on cornering everyone into areas and keeping them barricaded with your forces.

Again. As the guy originally highlighting K's faults for once. The problem is not that you can or can't disable it. Is that the actual vanilla content is extremely scarce. I used grepWin when I wanted to check who had unique dialogue or events at all, and came up almost empty. Checking SHOP_SLG though... Just so you get an idea, from the entire folder there's less than ten files with non NTR. There's kilometric .txt relating different situations to a girl getting kidnapped by enemy soldiers, bandits, villagers and it ALWAYS follows the same plot or relating how humilliated, sad and miserable she feels during all of it and how she ends up loving it and craving for cock every second of the day, with the most detailed explanations you could imagine. Cult sects, bestiality, incest and incest NTR, some of those sadly even being character specific instead of just general events. All of them starting with situations that make zero sense and that you would only get in doujins. Imagine being a guy that actually likes Touhou characters, and you have to wade through all of that just to get some super succint dialogue with a few of the girls when dating them or before the war turns. It's really not worth it, I'll rather even go to YMAEM at that point, and there's TW anyway to not suffer through degradation.
For H content I would've prefered something that had more impact on the politics of the Kingdoms, not randomly getting showered with events that are either glorified stat modifiers with zero consequences, or insta-lose an officer buttons, with nothing in between. You can charm other officers, but it takes many, many, MANY long turns without cheating, and only your MC can initiate. Some of the girls have a couple specific events, like Aya promising her body to you in exchange of joining her and even kidnapping Hatate for you (gotta admit, pretty hot) but they lack agency and they rarely interact unless your character is absolutely broken, and they either become happy slaves to you or act as they didn't even want to hire you at all. Also, sadly, the gross event of character specific events are absolute trash, and don't deserve the effort it takes to trigger them. They could have tried to make politics be more than establishing alliances so you don't get fucked, allow you to do more than research in the towns, or have ANYTHING to do when you are not the ruler. I'm not even asking for what would be my wet dream, an SNES Romance of the Three Kingdoms in which even some battles can be seen. Just some basic strategy text simulator with some Touhou, like on the War stage skills, would be amazing. Instead, K is a compilation of braindead NTR that not even the worst nukige VNs or trashiest doujins would go with zero quality control, and once in a while you get to pour money into officers, troops, and pit them against other factions. It can be 'fun' disabling the retarded parts, but just thinking of the wasted potential makes me seethe, and I definitely don't understand the hype.

So you get an idea, there's a general event in which the girl gets blackmailed because she saw a couple of porn actors fucking in the wild, and since that disturbed their AV footage, she was guilt tripped into taking a couple risqué photos (???))) and of course, she goes along with this logic. After that, just so the photos aren't spread, (who could had seen this coming) she's forced to star on an actual AV (???) to not lose reputation as an officer with 100000s of troops, which leads her to becoming an almost full-time porn actress (??????), and the event narrative ends up saying that she becomes extremely popular in the town and all her material sells out (WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU EVEN GET BLACKMAILED FOR THEN?) That's how oligophrenic the average event is. And it's intentionally this way, because initially you couldn't even avoid stuff like the millionaire. The core of the game IS NTR, and without it, it's absolutely barebones. What do you have left, the random fairy you adopt, that rich girl you become a teacher of, colosseum battles (as long as you don't send girls)?

There's an option to activate the factions but disable rape while captivity occurs. Pretty amusing, you get literal NPCs birthing tentacles every turn, girls getting kidnapped by the succubus faction but still being virgins, the strongest of the game like Yorihime or Remilia being contained by bandits. If you hover over it on the Abilities page you'll see it increases with favor gems, which you get at the end of each day with the amount depending on how high the favorability level was.
I can't remember the exact numbers but it's something like 10k gems for lv13 and 30k gems for lv14, so every single level makes a big difference.

This is another thing. It doesn't happen often, but it's odd to have 120+ in all stats and still suffer on a random event or even a bounty hunt. It's a coin flip each time and it almost encourages you to save before attempting it.

I agree on the politics part, but the research portion I would reel it back a bit since it's a relatively new feature.
