Odd, i tried it myself just now, and in 4 pages of results on danbooru only one picture had sanae in it. Other boorus may have less restrictive tagging but on danbooru "no_humans" means no-humanoids by default.

I'd love to see his take on Makai, especially the ruins of it after the battle with Shinki.
It's a place so important to the Touhou lore and looks so modern, almost like the outside world. It's a shame it just doesn't get much attention since it's from PC-98.
I know the Animal Realm kinda looks like Makai but Makai just seems more memorable

I'm still upset 12 was such a missed opportunity to see Makai proper after all these years.
Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if Makai was namedropped as the destination in UFO's demo leaving people with that to think about for months. Maybe more people would've actually played the PC-98 games.

I’m curious where you’re getting this part from. I’ve been playing some 98 lately and my impression of Makai is this really weird and abstract place, like the hellstorm stage from darkstalkers or even that famous triptych by heironymous bosch (but with cute anime girls instead of uggos, but then touhou 1 had some legit monsters in makai so they might be around too).

If there’s something that hints at it being modern I’d like to know, it’s one of the most intriguing areas in the touhou setting for me. My impression is mostly from how the game stages look.

I’d love to see Makai explored in a new game or world-building manga, but it’s probably sealed in PC98 purgatory like most things from that era.

Also Shinki talks about a private tour agency when you play as Reimu, which sounds kinda like a modern thing.
