If you ever moved to Japan, would you be able to answer the abundant questions the Japanese would be asking you about your homeland?

If not, they'd probably regard you as uninteresting and useless. Although they would most likely instantly think this anyway - not having anything interesting to share about your own country would just further cement your patheticness

pic related for me - my homeland

You fuckers had nothing but rhythm and Capcom fighters; I only found one arcade that had any Arc Sys games and they only had GG slash and Blazblue, no AC in sight. Also I couldn't find a melty cab, which sucks 'cause I'm one of the top eight players in the province at Melty.

You know, in my honest opinion, Québec is the only part who has something we can call a _nation_ and have what we call a _culture_. Anything else, except for the Acadians, is pretty much borrowed from us. The ROC (rest of canada) can go fuck himself.

I don't know about Alberta but I do know that the best player in Canada (and one of the best in the continent, he came third at EVO the last time they had melty there) Tare lives there ATM. But he moved there from BC and spends his off time here.

Really the BC gaming scene kinda stretches into Washington and Alberta anyways.

I was buying groceries and needed coffee badly (change in time zones + caffiene addiction - coffee = dead BC dude), and there I saw it: 'Coffee Time'.

I though to myself "It's been a week of nothing but Timmy's and Starbucks (note to self: buy entire family tree french presses), how bad can this place be? "

Approaching the counter I am greeted by an East Indian woman who is grossly out of shape. "What do you want?" She asks me, devoid of any enjoyment of her job or proper customer service.

I gaze upon the menu on the wall behind her, a decrepit old lady gets inline behind to acquire another doughnut. Pouring over the rather limited menu choices and gazing at the cheap looking and ominous 'flavour dispenser' I decide that I should choose what she would be least likely to screw up.

>> No.3730736

>>3730735

"One regular coffee, please." at my prompt she grabs a rather small cup from a stack and heads to the coffee pot.

The coffee pot had obviously not been cleaned in a long time, deposits of old coffee was built up on the edges of the cheap glass fishbowl pot. Inside was coffee which had quite obviously gone stale several hours earlier in the day and had yet to be replaced. She grabbed the grimy bowl and poured me a cup of the ancient brew. Yelling over her shoulder she asked me if I wanted cream or sugar. I breifly consider that those would help disguise the taste of the coffee, but upon seeing a cream dispenser I decide that may only make it worse.

She hands me the cup.

>> No.3730739

>>3730736
On the drive home feel the cup, it was about peak drinking temperature at that point. Picking the cup and swishing it around a bit i could tell that the bottom had sludge in it.

"Okay Anon, you drink old coffee all the time; there was a point where you lived on highway rest stop coffee for a month, you've drunken day old coffee with grounds in it before; how bad can this be?"

I bring the cup to my lips, I smell trying to judge the coffee based on it's aroma, but I am greeted by a confounding scent I can relate to no other coffee. "Fuck it, I'm just being a wimp." Maybe all those fancy commercial drive coffee shops have made me a bit spoiled. I take a good long hard swig.

The flavour and texture of the coffee assail me. The coffee tastes like something between bath water, grounds, and the scraped bottom of a reststop pot of coffee. It's quite literally the worst thing I had ever tasted in a good ten years. I spit the 'coffee' back into the cup and pull into a nearby parking lot. I violently hurl the cup into a trashcan and begin looking through my groceries for something to clean the powerfully lingering taste from my mouth. The orange juice and Cola prove ineffective against the staying power of the 'coffee'. Then I see it: the bottle of Tabasco sauce.
***********

And that's the story of my trip to coffee time, in which I rinsed my mouth out with a bottle of Tabasco sauce.

Canada is a pretty quiet country. Nothing much happens here. There's a lot of corruption but I'm assuming that's standard for most countries nowadays.
There's increasingly bad decisions being made, though.
Our internet access conditions are among the worst in the world (expensive, slow speeds, further slowed to less than 10% normal afternoons and evenings, low monthly caps), and they're going to get a lot worse soon.
Some guy lost his job, his wife, went to prison, is forbidden to use the internet for two years, is registered as a sex offender and has to see a shrink... all because "he had 10 erotic stories involving teenages on his computer". So apparently Canada's doing thought crimes now.
We're still among the best countries in the world, which makes me very very sad...

Quebec tried leaving, actually. They were supposed to separate (partially at first) and eventually become a country of their own. If I recall the vote ended up freakishly close at 50.x%.
Turns out a lot of rich people in Ontario make their money off of companies that that own but that are located in Quebec and manned by Quebec workers, and they pressured the government of Canada into manipulating the vote.
So nearly everyone in Canada wanted Quebec to separate, but as usual a few rich people made the decision.
There's no way a second vote will happen, so... sorry dude, you're stuck with them.

Not sure what you mean by "benefits". They were planning on being partially dependent for some time (five years, I think?), for example they were gonna keep using the same currency until they could establish their own. That's not really an advantage, especially considering that the Canadian dollar wasn't worth much.
There's heavy corruption and debt in all of Canada. I think Alberta is the only place that has been generating a decent amount of money, and then only because of their natural resources.
Quebec sucks but it doesn't suck any more than any other place in the country. Plus they have nice strip clubs. I went with friends once... quite memorable.
