>During a discussion about Nasu's true name in another thread some very old pre-TM doujinshi were brought up. While looking at the pics I realized there was something very interesting in it other than Nasu's and Takeuchi's names, there was info on Old Fate in one of these.
>Not Fate/Prototype which is a reimagining of it but the actual novel Nasu wrote on high school. My Japanese isn't very good and it's hard for me to read handwritten japanese but I managed to identify the long-haired man on the center top of the left page as Kojiro, the angry-looking guy on the left bottom of the left page as Berseker and the armored man on the right top as Saber. I assume the girl with glasses to his left is Ayaka.
>Interestingly the line below mentions the name of the novel, which isn't just 'Fate'. The name of Old Fate was actually Fate Skipper (フェイト・スキッパー) which must be the most lame chuuni engrish name I've heard. No wonder Nasu himself never mentioned the full title.

>>just copy Sasaki's manga for the few changes made
You know I like the manga as much as everyone else but some mangafags love to act like Arcs route didn't exist before it was released because of the original VNs scenes that were limited getting finally drawn in action so it's given them the complete wrong impression that all the scenes in the new VN are just taken from the manga.

If crest healing was so strong, being a magi would make one almost immortal, and that doesn't seem to be the case for the most part. And I'd consider it if the crest was a full-body one as with Alice and Illiya, but it's just a hand in her case.

I guess the 5th being in the crest really makes it bonkers.
In general, the whole concept of Magic Circuits and crests and shit is just so dumb.
Like keeping them invisible lest some rando sees meme lines on your body and shit using stuff.
And the stats, the fact the stats don't matter, the fact they are in arbitrary places and work in different ways per person.
All of it is just lore for lores sake, just have them be shonen magic strong instead of inventing a system that never actually matters for plot reasons.

Or him flirting with Jaguarman to get her to join her side. It’s pretty embarrassing writing from Nasu that made the anime a slog to watch. And the whole ending sequence with him moving like a servant all of a sudden and given a dagger out of nowhere to defeat Tiamat with was awful. The whole ending of the anime was terrible with king Hassan doing nothing but eating lahmu. As the story goes on it actually turns into the tale of wise king Gilgamesh killing a primordial goddess and experiencing the fall of Mesopotamia, as well as his relationship with Enkidu.
One of the things that make the gacha chapters written by Nasu better than the rest is that he always ends up focusing in characters with actual personalities instead of (You), like with Camelot focusing on Bedivere's returning the holy sword to the king or LB6 where at the end is mostly about Castoria and Oberon.

Gachafag theoretically goes through a lot with planet bleaching, incineration, mash dying, experiencing different cultures where humans are used like commodities/farmed and eldritch entities. Except that it's never given proper gravity whatsoever and thus feels basically like a joke. It's part of why the writing is so bad and it's hard to take completely seriously imo. Servants and treatment are implied to be holding their mind together(lol) and they will probably have a complete breakdown(hopefully) by the end of fgo but even if it does happen I feel like they completely lost the opportunity for gravitas.

Nothing beats Roa possessing him. In general being subject to vampire bullshit like Arc wanting to literally eat him on an existential level is overdose. Getting dropped into Vlovs morgue/dining hall is straight up something out of berserk. Shiki technically experienced the eclipse first hand by reliving Noels tragedy and managed to break out of it. In the bad end he exists as a disembodied spirit within Noels eyes where he relives progressively more terrible experiences for eternity. That barely covers the psychological stuff he goes through over the course of Tsukihime and doesn't get into his murder impulses and the themes about trying to remain a good person while being surrounded by death, mindrape and carnage. The dude literally watched his entire clan massacred before his eyes to where he creates an image of death in his assailants form, gets mindraped, loses his identity, the shitshow with SHIKI, etc. Remake also seems to set up that he was involved in a vampire attack/tragedy when he was a child. Dudes entire existence is described as being deprived to where his very past self was stolen from him. Aoko said it best, Shiki's eyes bring him hardship. Even his relationships with the heroines are kinda-lowkey horrifying experiences that he has to work for to get the good end. Dude gets murdered by them if he slips up some. Being Shiki is fucking suffering. Just seeing the world in a constant state of death and the illusion that everything is about to collapse is probably good enough to say he's drawn the super short end of the protagonist stick. And then to top it all off, the guy literally died a few times, has a fucked up lifespan/lifeforce, has to constantly see his own impending death(which Aoko admits would drive even her over the edge) and seemingly continues to indulge a life of fighting vampires and all the horror that implies. It's actually amazing he ends up as he does. His resilience is ridiculous. It would have been easier if he just gave up and became an insane killer.

What are you even talking about.
I guess you can draw some parallels if you really wanted to, but "same energy", really? I'm sorry, but no way. In the route, basically two of his immortal gfs are fighting, as they often do, and nobody really has much malicious intent in truth anyways. He might be upset about Ciel getting whacked, but everybody knows it has no consequences to her but pain, and she lived through many time worse stuff in Church. There is no betrayal at all, and all that's happening is the consequences of his questionable actions.
The "energy" is completely different and is nothing alike. Rather, Noel/Ciel's flashback has much more of it, but the final fight is not at all.

You are talking about Shiki, right (I know you're not)? Because although he was unreasonably forgiven the first time he killed Arcuied, he did it again while not even being possessed by his impulse. Not to mention that Arc being weakened so much is his fault to begin with.

When bumped into her, may be not, but when he slashed her throat, while she already was struggling to keep her shit together, he should have considered such scenario a definite possibility.
Well, for the fact that he does such a braindead deed, after feeling all the guilt for killing her for the first time and thinking about how he loves her and being told that she is in a bad state (for the reason only he himself and Arc knows), I blame Nasu more than Shiki, cause that's just too ridiculous to be plausible. What Nasu wanted to convey I think is that it mimics any situation where a person lashes out and immediately regrets it. Especially in cases where the results are worse than imagined. There wasn't any malice there and it can be chalked it up to him being so conditioned to think she's invincibility incarnated that it wouldn't possibly do anything significant.(And honestly she revived moments later so...). It's obviously a terrible action that is more symbolic and meaningful than he realized in that instant but I can understand how it occurred.
As for Ciel, I think it was portrayed heavily and serious(except when Arc flicks her which was kinda cute and derpy) and that they didn't shy away on the cruelty being performed. Granted that Ciel just previously killed her so you may not care about the torture but I don't feel like it lessened the severity of the scene.

I utterly disagree. She said it to him herself, about how she felt when he killed her the first time. She essentially went crazy with pain and anger etc. Only the fact that he wasn't around her at the time saved him from being killed on the spot. He was told so by herself. So suuurely, killing her again won't cause the same reaction, riiight? Not to mention the fact that her condition was worse already. That's an ABSOLUTELY expected reaction, he was told that that's likely to happen.
But that was only what Arc told him. But guess what, there is also Ciel. Through all the Tsukihime and even other games, she tells Shiki that Arc is a bomb/weapon of mass destruction. Suuuurely (x2), cutting her neck (fuse), when she has already been killed (cocked) by non other than himself will do nothing.
Sorry for all the sarcasm, but that wasn't an unexpected reaction by any stretch of imagination. May be the specifics, yes, but he surely should have been ready to be killed right after the slashing.

>> No.37274259

>>37274007
He did portray them though. I don't think anyone is really confused about Shiki's mindset there. He cares for her but understands that her feelings are mistaken from their premise. The main reason she loses and Shiki goes on the Ciel route is because in this route Arc is prioritizing obtaining Shiki over valuing his life. He's given the ultimatum of being killed or forced into submission. He also loves Ciel by now so he rejects her. His brain was melting at this point and he couldn't/didn't even finish his thoughts about Arc it seemed. He took his chance to escape and get a breather, not thinking at all that it would affect her like that. It wasn't until after it all ended and he saved her from vanishing that they were able to really have that talk in earnest. That's really all it comes down to right?

At what point, I wonder. She was barely able to resurrect the first time, being very weak and barely able to fight back some minios. In fact, to such extend, that she asks a "normal" human to be her shield. She displays her weaknesses more than enough, so I'd rather say that she seems fragile (after getting killed the first time).
And as I said in the post above, she did describe to him what did his murder did to her. It basically broke her emotionally (is basically the foundation of the VN), and depleted 80% of her power, so she can barely hold her vampiric impulse. Her death had a huge impact on her, and he is informed on all of it.

They both came to terms with and understood their feelings throughout the final battle and their talk at the end where everything came full-circle is where they had that proper conversation they didn't have in the park but under less tense conditions and some better understanding of their feelings. Yeah, and I'm sure I could show you some pretty shallow cuts in cartel videos if you want. As it has already been explained, it's absolutely absurd that he would make that mistake in the first place. He was not under any significant pressure and he virtually completely alleviated it literally seconds before he cut her throat.

Cool, how many of them feature True Ancestors though?
Shiki likely just did it to escape being pinned, which it succeeded at. He didn't expect it to do any lasting damage, which it didn't, and he didn't dismember her despite likely being able to in that second. How could he really know that Arc is going to explode for several hours because of it?

I didn't know Aoko taught Shiki how to see the future instead of what the MEoDP do. But then why didn't he use it at that moment? But it's not like it will kill her anyways, dying, even temporarily, isn't painful at all. After all, Shiki never cared when she got hurt by Vlov or whenever Ciel was torn apart because they would just get better anyways.

That's never been her reaction to taking damage, though. And again, it's pretty reasonable from his perspective.
>Arc tells Shiki that he can be either be her servant or that she'll need to kill him
>Shiki rejects the servant offer, meaning logically that she will attempt to kill him, and needs to escape asap
>He can not escape while he is currently pinned by Arc, and normal physical strikes will have no effect as he saw earlier in the fight. Only a MEoDP hit could possibly stagger her.

I don't think the self-defense argument is necessary since the idea that Shiki's actions here somehow upend his character is mistaken but...
I think a court of law would probably find that it was justifiable use of self-defense. He's prone and being pinned by someone much stronger than him whose shown willingness to kill. Shiki has reasonable cause to fear for his life and knows in fact that his options are submission or death and being turned. Given their close proximity, he's in immediate danger of being subjected to the latter. Replace vampire teeth with any other weapon and it's probably an open and shut case.

You're ignoring that his brain is melting and he doesn't even finish his thoughts about Arcueid. You're also disregarding the entire scene afterwards explaining how he had zero illusions that he would have caused that kind of damage. Why the fuck are you trying to frame it as if he committed premeditated murder? Him evaluating her misguided confession prior doesn't have any relevance to your presumption that he acted with the intent to kill her.

You can dress it up all you want, but she still offered him subjugation or death. If he refuses subjugation, then it is logical that death will follow. This is essentially the only action that lets Shiki get out of a pin and start getting away. Not even an active attempt to kill Arc, just to get her off him.
>>Attempt the least lethal MEoDP hit
The line is on her neck and his reach is limited because again, pinned currently, cut is pretty shallow when he could logically decapitate her, and Shiki is surprised she's hurt at all once he gets up. He doesn't even think this will hurt her as much as it did, much less kill her.

>It shouldn't even come close to killing her or even mortally wounding her, and it doesn't.
Yeah I'm sure Arcueid didn't die when he cut her into 17 pieces either, just because she came back to life. It's not like coming back to life not negating a murder is essential to the premise or anything.

You replied to a post that was responding to this. This post implies that Shiki is being callous and acting as if he doesn't value life. That it's ok to kill temporarily. The post you responded to addressed that and you replied about him analyzing her. I don't see how that relates to either him killing with intent or in your mind ,absurd that he wouldn't realize.

Eh, Shiki fully thinks she's serious about either submitting or dying. That's the whole premise on why he says that her confession is wrong. No reason to think she isn't serious, even if she really does want Shiki to accept her of his own will. Which she definitely does. That's the whole premise of the route... that Arcueid values possessing him over his own life.

Do you not understand the difference between slicing her into 17 separate pieces and Shiki necking her? It's a huge degree here. You gotta understand from Shiki's perspective that he's not doing anything remotely similar to when they first met and it doesn't even cross his mind that it would possibly kill her. It's thematic yes and his reaction to it is visceral disbelief.

One of these things happened with intent to kill the shit out of her while Shiki had no idea what Arc even was. The other happened while Shiki is well aware of Arc's capabilities, durability and regeneration, and even with that in mind the assumption that it would stop her for seconds at best. Saying that is a murder attempt is a pretty hard fucking reach.

I mean it doesn't exactly take a genius to figure it out. She conflates the alternative of not being her servant with hating her because she has been spurned, thus the moment he says he doesn't hate her and sees her response he has the opportunity to correct that misunderstanding.
