Nice for the most part, certainly had it's moments, but in the end, pointless. I personally feel FSN would be a better end product if HF was diluted into the 2 other routes.

But alas, I don't think /jp/ as it stands now is capable of formulating an unbiased opinion on this matter.

Some pretty interesting ideas, failed to deliver due to piss poor pacing and the weak drama. Nine Lives was pretty cool with RN patch. Kotomine was GOD TIER though.

Kotomine was the only thing keeping that train from crashing.

How to make HF decent:

1. Replace Sakura with Ilya as the heroine, rewrite plot slightly
2. Cut the excess bullshit

I felt the whole story was fairly good, it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth because of all the shit everyone goes through

I just couldn't pretend to like Sakura, so all drama regarding her was just painful. And the route is 50% Sakura pity party anyway.

Same goes for Tsukihime's Ciel route. It was a chore to finish it, since Ciel was so utterly boring. A shame, since the Ciel route itself is one of the best, based on content.

HF itself was bad, I'm a Sakura-fag but HF was simply horrible compared to Fate and UBW.
I think it was mostly because the "magic" of the atmosphere already got old and too much of slice of life.
What was good about HF were the revelations, the missing pieces of the puzzle that fit together, and how all the plot made sense.
Rider's true master, the true objective of the Grail War, the truth behind Sakura's smile, Shirou changing his way of life, Archer resignation on his destiny, etc etc.

It was the best route faggots

the end was awesome, the build up was fuck awful.

HF starts like shit. Really, really horrible. Boring fights, really bad drama, a forced feeling etc. It only gets decent after Nine Lives when Shirou startis to break down until it culminates into the fuckawesome Kotomine fight.

But goddamn. Over 10 hours about that shitty wangstfest. If not for the occasional Ilya scenes and MAPO TOFU, I would've dropped it.

Like others, as I couldn't make myself care about Sakura in the slightest, I didn't really like the route.
Had Shirou really been judged by his ideal in the end and truly faced a consequence at the end regardless of the ending, I probably would have liked it slightly more as I did not like Shirou's characterization relative to Fate and UBW.

Character bedridden forever made it seem like I was really playing Near Side of the Moon again.

Fate and UBW Shirou don't want to die, they just place more value on helping others than their own life. HF Shirou is the same way, he's just given up on helping people in general and just helping Sakura.

Same "self-destructive" path, it's just that he's abandoned his sense of justice (stopping people from harming others) so that he can reconcile trying to save Sakura.

It's been stated outside of HF that Shirou has feelings for Sakura that's he kept suppressed so as not to further ruin his friendship with Shinj. If UBW Shinji is an example of how he would have been with no Grail War, I don't see any reason why Shirou and Shinji couldn't patch things up and be cool with Shirou dating Sakura.

Arguably, Hercules and Rider were the only ones that had really fucked up lives which they aren't to blame for. Hercules mangled his family, without control of himself, and Rider was forced to become what she was.

Medea could've turned her husband and everyone else into frogs and moved on, but she killed her own children because she was a coward. Lancer never regretted anything he did, even if it involved terrible circumstances. True Assassin doesn't even deserve mention, since all he has is I HAVE NO FACE BAAAWWW. Gilgamesh died rather happily, in comparison, with a man tear for Enkidu's loss.

Archer was really fucked up. The rest had normal tragedies. Archer's whole existence was the tragedy.

Rin had enough mana capacity to keep Saber without needing assistance from the Grail. Sakura is connected to the unlimited energy in the Akashic Record and could probably support all 7 Servants.

Gilgamesh lost his only friend in life and is now continually forced to live without him, because he cannot die. He went through hell and back to try and save him, but failed because of a foolish God. If you think about it, due to the way Gilgamesh is now, he will never get another friend.
