Since the rules have changed a bit, I will reiterate the basics: for the prelim poll you will vote for up to three separate candidates, there will be no downvotes, it will last exactly 24 hours, and the top 10 (guaranteed to be exactly ten this time) will become the finalists. It will not be in the forums this time, but done with custom software much like the final poll last time.

The actual date has yet to be set, since we're not done with Inganock yet, but expect it within a week of that project reaching completion, so probably the third or fourth week of November.

A Comyu is a team of randomly chosen 5 people, who are forced to create a team (a Comyu) to control an Avatar in form of big monster shit. If an Avatar dies, those 5 people dies as well. The only way to level up your Avatar is to kill other Avatar. Now you can guess where it's going.

Protagonist is the opposite of Shirou because he's a feminazi. If people die, as long as they're male, it's perfectly fine. The scenario is designed so that every characters in the game has some relation with all this Comyu business. Four routes before unlocking Kagome (true) route. Who is a kukri wielding mysterious witch (bitch) like Beatrice who can pawn literally everyone's asses without Avatar.

Cover. Kagome is the black haired bitch. The four routes girls are two at upper left corner and two at bottom. The maid and the white haired sadistic bro have no route. Oh you can also have sex with every one of the female cast.

There are classes in Comyu; the protagonist is high class Bishop, Benio (twintail, idiot girl) is a rogue, Mayuki (toad cap, most comedic loli) is a guard, Haru the maid is mage, Izawa is fighter. Those roles determine the strength and control of their Avatar.

Compared to Ruitomo, Comyu has less wordplay and more action. So they're more easy for translation. 2.83MB script. Both of these game have the same artist/writer/staff, and the fanbase seems to be very satisfied with these two products; compared to Japanese Sharin fans getting let down by G-senjou.

Completely false, Comyu had been getting lots of bad reviews, even from fans of Ruitomo.

First, Comyu isn't an action eroge.
It's more of a slice of life focusing on a small group that are forced to band together after getting some big power, there are fights and they are few and far between.

The focus is really on the characters, problem is that doesn't really go too far in the psyche of the cast making the whole thing a little shallow.
And when it try to go all DEEP with the character, it feels kinda forced and repetitive, like Akihito constant flashback (basically think Shirou's flashback of being found by Kiritsugu, except Akihito's is repeated even more).
And the cast doesn't have much of a chemistry, especially compared to Ruitomo.
The common route is pretty good, the individual route save Kagome's are pretty average though.

The whole thing feels kinda anticlimatic as a whole I guess, it's not bad but it's not really good, mid tier VN.

And so? I actually played the game myself you see and while I don't think this is bad, it's definitely no Swan Song, Baldr Sky or even Ruitomo.

One thing first, Comyu doesn't have "a lot of killing", nor is it really a "dark seinen shit".
Comyu is more like about a small group, their interactions and the way they react in the situation they were put in.
It's not an action eroge, I doubt you could call it a psychological eroge too since it really doesn't go that deeply in the characters psyche except for Akihito, it's more like a slice of life eroge about a group, a Comyu, of 5 people + 1 "witch" that have to learn to help each other to survive.
It's surprisingly low key, though it fits the mood and definitely less LOL REAL DEAL than a lot of people here think.

I'm not saying this is bad, I liked it but you people are getting a wrong idea of it.

So I was thinking about the "three bigs", and am I correct that they are pretty much about:

Swan Song: Some huge earthquake hits and climate is messed up and it starts to snow. the story is mostly about the drama what the people do after world end like catastrophe? So it's some kind of survival drama?

Baldr Sky: Cyberpunkish VN with gameplay? It's about some mercanary chasing culprits of some huge incident, and somewhere along the line he loses his memory? and after that he struggles to remember what he was doing, while he gets deeper in the net of plotting from different factions that all were somehow involved in the incident?

Muv-Luv Alternative: Some ordinary guy gets dragged some alternative version of his world? In that world humanity is fighting a losing battle against aliens that like om nom nom people. So he gets drafted to military and starts to fight against the invaders all the while hes looking a way to return to his old peacefull world? Epic mech action ensues.

Deny. Chaos;Head's ending sequence completely turned around the whole mood of the game. Killer Queen doesn't do that, it just feels a little awkward because it seems the writer wanted a certain type of ending but couldn't exactly figure out how to do it with the conditions he had set for the rest of the story so he just sort of fudges it. This is unless you're talking about the sequel (not actually a sequel) Secret Game which has one of the most ridiculous endings that comes close to Chaos;Head ending, it also has some awesome endings though.

Must be the influence of Muramasa, hard to be really nice with Comyu when I'm currently playing something that is so obviously superior in every ways.

Just a little note for those who are really lost - Swan Song is no ordinary drama, more like "apocalyptical drama". Don't vote it if you expect high school drama or something like that.

Saihate no Ima is a mindfuck that a lot of elements from a lots of genres, I honestly don't know how to classify it. But it's awesome all the way through, even better than Cross Channel in my opinion.

Kara no Shoujo is a pretty dark detective stoy

Gunjou no Sora wo Koete is a surprisingly realistic take on the life of some young pilots during a civil war in Japan. Really realistic and down to earth.

Parfait is pretty much considered as the best romantic eroge ever. It's not a nakige (though it does have a few crying scenes), it's not a moege, it really focus first and foremost on the romance which is actually pretty rare these days.
Add to that some really good writing and character interactions and even a few BRICKS in a particular awesome route.

From what I hear, Fungi has never translated anything before and doesn't seem to be too interested in translating in general. I think he only decided to translate Baldr Force because it's his favourite thing ever. So yeah, don't count on it.

I doubt I'll ever translate anything again after G-Senjou, or if I do it'll be something easy and probably obscure.

Swan Song fits perfectly as the side project which would be translated if something long wins (such as, you know, Alternative) so the argument "it's short so I want it to win" doesn't really work. Don't misunderstand me though, I'd love to read it (I even voted for it in the last poll), but there's an oportunity to get both Alternative and Swan Song so I don't know why shouldn't we vote for Alt (unless you are not interested at all in those two, I'm obviously not asking this to someone who can't stand their genres).

It has been said to be fucking awesome for years, and many people want it translated, and most bilingual guys who have played it say they loved it. Now though we have a translator willing to translate it and tools that allow one to translate it.

well thats true also,but force is bit more gameplay oriented than sky. I dont actualy have that big problem with AL as its the which I want second most, but in the case alternative wins, considering how long it is we wouldnt be getting sky, we would have to wait untill the next summer the earliest and maybe later than that because people wouldnt then vote for it as we just have gotten alternative and too much "mechs" in row is a bad thing. and as I said I doubt that fungi will be translating sky after force, and we cant really rely on taka to translate sky either any earlier due to majikoi being so long too.
