What Okina did in 17.5 with Flandre isn't any different from Yukari using Reimu to solve something. The difference is that at least Yukari was established very early on in the Windows canon, whereas Okina was only shown recently and now she has to be part of everything all of a sudden, always benefiting behind the scenes. Even brief appearances like the one in WaHH had her showing off how godly she is. It wouldn't surprise me if ZUN also jacks her off in the Satori manga.

Characters are written to fit into the stories, you could make an argument that a hidden God shouldn't be attention whoring so hard or be as relevant as she is. I don't mind if we keep getting the same characters but I'd prefer getting new perspectives or stories from different characters instead of the same few 2hus acting the same roles over and over.

That was her whole point since HSiFS, she's too hidden so she's more like forgotten. ALso shes not relevant. She appeared at a party once, turned some fairies into rubies, and had Flan do what Flan always does. She hasn't even been in another main series game. Whatever she's doing with Miyoi's buddies probably isn't much either if she didn't bother to kidnap Miyoi as well. Plus it's Aya, so whatever it is is already grossly exaggerated. And its not even like she was going around announcing herself to more than a few people at a time. You act like she's Remi day 1 in Gensokyo.

Probably should clarify, not saying she shouldn't had appeared afterwards, just saying ZUN clearly wants to keep writing her so she keeps inserting her into the stories. Those could had been shaped to fit several characters with authority or relevance in Gensokyo had ZUN deemed so. Tenshi and Komachi were the ones to go aid Reimu at the end of WaHH but it could had been Yukari, or Sanae or Okina or so.

I don't care about Yuuka that much, it's just an example given by the conversation. She's not more relevant because ZUN decided not to write more from her, but she could be had ZUN decided so. Just like she could do with most other characters. Has Narumi, Nemuno or the dancers had anything relevant on the print works or side games yet? How about the th17 characters who in comparison 2 years later Okina, Nemuno and Aunn already had a few appearances here and there. The only one from 17 that has appeared since then is Kutaka just now.

I don't hate her, I just want to see other characters have more of a spotlight, I've made this very clear before. I like her like I also like Aya or Mamizou but I wish we'd see them less, they’ve shown themselves way too much already. If we get more stuff with them that's fine, I won't be pissed off at it but I'd rather see other stuff. Feel like this is where the side games have been shining more, it's given characters like Koishi, Doremy, Mokou, Sukuna, Tenshi or so a time to have spotlight outside their games. 17.5 seems to be doing so as well with Murasa, Yuugi, Yamame and so.

i'm not saying that EVERY character should be given attention, though. it would be cool for yamame, ringo, and seiran to get developed more, but touhou is a shmup series, and some characters need to play the role of "hello i'm here so this area of gensokyo has someone to fight" at the end of the day
