Paralyzed with fear, you say nothing and stare into her eyes. You feel a pulling in your chest and seconds later, she's pulling your heart out through the hole in your gut.

Your eyes widen and your mouth falls agape as you realize what just happened. As your vision begins to fade, your last sight is Rumia, stuffing your heart into her maw, pure ecstasy in her eyes

Searching 'canon', it's really interesting how radically different the approach to 2hu canon was back then compared to now. At the very least, the yukkuri general back in '08 was more concerned with how yukkuri are properly interpreted among fanworks and given that there wasn't nearly as many canon works to go off of, people were far more relaxed with how people interpreted the characters and the setting, opting to more liberally apply fanon depictions as representative of Touhou characters than referring to game endings or such in order to highlight character points of various 2hus.

In hindsight, one of the best things about ZUN dictating aspects of character personalities and setting rules is that we have tons of panels, LN stories, and screenshots to create a stronger, more centralized idea of what those characters are like, rather than the myriad versions of fanon that exist of her, but at the same time, those canon depictions aren't complete representations of those characters so fanon interpretations are also still just as viable. It's like having your cake and eating it too, I suppose.

Maybe I'm just hopelessly optimistic, but I think overall board quality can improve with enough conscious effort. You gotta admit that stagnation is perpetuated by the same braindead threads that survive only through bump life support. I don't care if it's some vain effort to fight off the vtuber/3DPD/etc menace. At that point it's just garbage against garbage.
A shame since the pace of /jp/ lends well to slower yet higher quality discussion, but that is sadly few and far between.
