Ayako route would have been better than Sakura's route, but Sakura isn't really interesting. I like her better than Saber, but that's not saying much. My favorite heroine was Rin.

Well, to be fair, any actual re-release was of their DOUJIN works, becoming commercial(KnK re-releases, waiting for Witch of Holy Night , Tsukihime etc).
Spin-offs where the creators are barely involved most of the time are a different issue, and F/SN already gets those, being as popular as it is.
There is no real reason to redo Fate.

They have a cash cow in Fate, and intend to milk it to support new works and a Tsukihime remake. In order to milk it, they're constantly diversifying the roster of FSN products on offer. They'll run out eventually, let it decline, then relaunch it.

I'd imagine the real money is made on merchandising, which is developed alongside the product. Lead times on figs are several months, which would require extensive interviews with target market segement representatives in order to determine the most moe of heroines.

It's a competitive industry, but a vocal one. You might have a BBS research who trawls looking for what the various segments want. At the same time, you need to avoid having a cynical mash of archetypes.

The eroge market is coming under increased scrutiny. As TM doesn't do 'extreme' H or loli material, it's well poised to avoid the flak.

Tsukihime is in a declining phase of the product life cycle. It's culturally significant to the company and also to the target market. Regeneration of this core IP is a good move on TM's part. Big sales, goodwill, more tie-ins, Sacchin-merchandise.
