No, not at all. Vast majority of kigs I've met are nice people, if a bit socially awkward. And the masks are either your thing or they aren't. In person it's very nice to have a moving kigu to do things with. At cons, there are a ton of people who love kigu and you get to interact with non-kigs a lot, which is very nice.
