As it were I do wonder if there is something more insidious at Sony/SMA that made them want to, or forced them to, graduate despite the large amounts of resources which should be available to Akimoto and his talents (though of course there is obvious favoritism towards the cash cow that AKB continues to be).

(Re)reading the video comments just made me feel sadder that the smoothly animated and well-drawn OP belied how much of a letdown the anime turned out to be.

The live action productions are still my go-to when recommending the series to newcomers; the reactions I've seen of people who started with the anime that went on to watch LoG/TFG would suggest that they leave a better impression than if one were to start watching the plays then pick up the anime afterwards.
