It's still one of my favorites. I can't guarantee the same for anyone else. The impact it had for some of the stuff it did was a big part of the experience but now everyone and their mother knows how the story goes with the anime and all.

Still worth it though. Minami's ending still has an impact that's for sure...

How different is the VN from the anime? I liked the latter and I'm pretty interested in the game since it's supposedly better. I'd still be interested in it even if it was a perfect adaptation since I'm an Akane fan and I'd love to play her route (...because she has a route, right?).

Well yes, obviously, as the anime adapted only one route. For example, the game has route for every female character except Haruka's mom and the doc, Mitsuki, Haruka and Akane being the main heroines, though.
